Dears Pharmacy and Travel Clinic: A Mixed Bag of Services

Dears Pharmacy and Travel Clinic, located in Edinburgh, presents a variety of services for its patrons. However, experiences shared by customers reveal a spectrum of opinions regarding the pharmacy's operations.

Accessibility and Service Options

The pharmacy offers a wheelchair-accessible entrance, making it easier for customers with mobility challenges to access their services. While many appreciate the in-store shopping experience, the in-store pick-up for online orders has received mixed reviews. Some customers have reported frustrations with locating their items, indicating a need for better organization and efficiency in handling orders.

Payment Methods and Queue Management

Convenience in payments is crucial for any pharmacy, and Dears Pharmacy accepts various forms including credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments. However, there have been complaints about the lack of cash acceptance, which can be inconvenient for some customers. Furthermore, the pharmacy has received feedback on chronic delays during busy hours, leading to long waits that strain customer patience.

Customer Service: A Point of Contention

The customer service experience at Dears Pharmacy seems to be an area needing significant improvement. Many visitors have expressed dissatisfaction with staff interactions, describing them as rude or condescending. One customer noted feeling belittled when seeking prescriptions for pain relief, while others have experienced issues with repeat prescriptions not being requested from their surgeries. This has led to feelings of frustration, particularly among those who rely on timely access to medications.

Inclusivity and Safe Spaces

Dears Pharmacy has been recognized as an LGBTQ+ friendly establishment, offering a transgender safe space for individuals seeking assistance without judgment. This is a positive aspect of the pharmacy's ethos, aiming to create an environment where all customers feel welcomed and respected.

Delivery Services: Room for Improvement

The pharmacy has introduced delivery options; however, reports indicate inconsistencies in service, leading to customers feeling let down when medications are delayed. Many stressed the importance of reliable delivery, especially for those unable to visit the pharmacy in person due to health constraints.

Planning Your Visit

If you plan to visit Dears Pharmacy, it might be wise to consider timing your trip to avoid the crowd. Customers have noted that the pharmacy can become exceptionally busy, causing delays in service. For quick visits, it may be advisable to check beforehand if the pharmacy is open, as there have been instances of unexpected closures.

Final Thoughts

While Dears Pharmacy and Travel Clinic offers essential services to the Edinburgh community, the feedback highlighted indicates a need for improvement in customer service, organizational efficiency, and operational reliability. As customers navigate their healthcare needs, addressing these issues could enhance the overall experience at this pharmacy, ensuring that it meets the expectations of the diverse clientele it serves.

"Brilliant lasses, top notch quality!"
Linda Parker (19/05/2025, 19:55):
After spending a weekend visiting my son in Stockbridge, I encountered the unfortunate situation of the airline losing my luggage, which contained all my necessary medication and equipment. Uncertain of when it would be found, I turned to a local pharmacist for help. The pharmacist advised me to contact the out-of-hours service to obtain an emergency prescription, assuring me they were willing to assist. Eventually, I was able to obtain the medication, although I couldn't access the specific catheters I needed. Despite this setback, the pharmacists went above and beyond by contacting other pharmacies in an attempt to help. I cannot adequately convey my gratitude and admiration for the two pharmacists who helped me during this challenging time. A heartfelt thank you,

Awful experience! I called to inquire about their policy on accepting used needles and insulin, and was informed by a discourteous lady who constantly interrupted me. Upon arrival, the other ladies at the front desk declined to accept them. Feeling frustrated after a long walk, I mentioned the prior information I received. Eventually, I ended up having to fill their disposal boxes with my items, while a presumed pharmacist insisted they were doing me a favor. I disagreed, suggesting they ensure staff provide accurate information.
