Overview of Lindsay and Gilmour Pharmacy Niddrie

Lindsay and Gilmour Pharmacy located in Niddrie, Edinburgh, serves as a vital healthcare hub for the local community. With a wheelchair-accessible entrance, this pharmacy is designed to cater to the diverse needs of its customers. However, the feedback from patrons has highlighted both strengths and weaknesses in their service.

Service Options Available

The pharmacy offers various service options including prescription pickups, over-the-counter medications, and health consultations. Despite these offerings, many customers have expressed frustration regarding long waiting times, often waiting in queues for extended periods. One customer noted, "I waited in a queue for nearly half an hour and not even one person was attended to." Such delays can be particularly troubling, especially when urgent medications are required.

Delivery Service Challenges

Delivery services have been a significant point of contention, particularly for elderly customers reliant on timely medication. One reviewer shared a distressing experience involving their 91-year-old father: "The pharmacy provided a terrible delivery service for him... The longest delay has been 2 weeks!" This highlights a critical area for improvement within the pharmacy, as reliable delivery is essential for patient care.

Payment and Accessibility Options

Regarding payments, the pharmacy accepts credit cards, making transactions convenient for most customers. As for accessibility, the pharmacy's location and design include features such as a wheelchair-accessible entrance, although some customers have criticized the overall organization and staff efficiency within the store.

Planning for Future Improvements

Despite the criticism, some customers acknowledge positive changes. One frequent visitor commented, "I have seen an improvement lately with the service." This indicates that the management may be planning enhancements to address persistent issues, potentially including increasing staffing levels or refining operational procedures.

Customer Experience and Suggestions

While some customers have reported friendly interactions with staff, others have described experiences as rude or unprofessional. A common sentiment is the need for better organization and communication within the pharmacy. To improve the customer experience, it may be beneficial for the pharmacy to implement a clearer queuing system to ensure fairness and efficiency. In summary, while Lindsay and Gilmour Pharmacy Niddrie has made strides in service quality, there remains significant room for improvement in areas such as wait times, delivery reliability, and overall staff responsiveness. For patients who prioritize timely medication access, considering alternative pharmacies may be advisable until these issues are fully resolved.

This chemist is the worst by far, an absolute joke! I've tried ordering repeats and they never have them in stock. And to top it off, they have the audacity to blame the customer. Avoid this place at all costs!
Judy Nelson (15/07/2025, 17:17):
The staff are dreadfully slow. I stood in line for a good half hour with no one being served. The line only seemed to grow longer. One can't help but wonder how many customers they manage to assist in a day.
Alexander King (14/07/2025, 10:24):
I have never encountered any issues with this Pharmacy.
Walter Gonzales (09/07/2025, 18:43):
I don't quite grasp some of the complaints, waiting a tad longer doesn't bother me much, and the staff are lovely and exceptionally helpful. I've noticed an enhancement in the service recently.
Jerry Nguyen (08/07/2025, 19:50):
Ah, that Nathan chap is quite decent, isn't he?
Andrew Murphy (08/07/2025, 02:10):
I strongly recommend avoiding the pharmacy at all costs. Unless you happen to be heavily medicated, the staff there doesn't seem to prioritize filling your prescriptions in a timely manner. I had an experience where I waited in line for 30 minutes to pick up a repeat prescription that I had dropped off a week prior. After finally getting that prescription and submitting a new one, I was told to return in another 30 minutes. When I came back, I had to wait in line for another half hour. The issue is not the wait itself, as I understand that pharmacies can get busy. However, what bothered me was that individuals who appeared to be under the influence of drugs were given priority treatment, skipping ahead of everyone else in the queue without any explanation. It seemed unfair that these people could bypass the line while others had to wait their turn. When I raised this concern with the pharmacy staff, they became defensive. It's important for a pharmacy to have a clear system in place for serving customers, rather than allowing some to jump the queue while others follow the rules. This inconsistency makes the whole experience feel chaotic.
Samuel Fisher (07/07/2025, 06:33):
The waiting time was extraordinarily lengthy, and the staff's level of professionalism left much to be desired.
Linda Flores (05/07/2025, 23:42):
This pharmacy in Edinburgh is the slowest I've ever seen!! The queue is always huge and moves at a snail's pace. I would definitely recommend avoiding this place at all costs!
Teresa Edwards (30/06/2025, 15:47):
The enduring waiting times can be quite bothersome and lead to unnecessary complications.
Dorothy Kelly (30/06/2025, 12:57):
The staff at this pharmacy are simply delightful, providing top-notch service with a smile. 10/10 would recommend!
Hannah Foster (30/06/2025, 08:18):
Well, I must say that currently, waiting times in most pharmacies are a tad bit lengthy. However, it appears that they are improving significantly, with the staff consistently proving to be friendly and courteous.

Whenever I go to collect prescriptions for several individuals, they are always extremely helpful, even in situations where it is an urgent prescription.
Janice Harris (29/06/2025, 22:04):
The queues are always so long, and they never seem to open on time. It's really frustrating!
Carol Patterson (27/06/2025, 03:54):
The extended waiting period experienced at the pharmacy was quite substantial.
Cheryl Moore (23/06/2025, 14:02):
Pharmacy sent my prescription over, but when I went to pick it up the next day at dinner time, they told me the meds were out of stock. Instead of giving me back my prescription so I could try another pharmacy, they just kept it. Then they suggested their robot service, where they would register me and text me a code to collect my medication. However, the code never showed up, and I was left without my much-needed meds!

They don't even know why I require this medication and how important it is for me. On top of that, I'm extremely busy, so this whole situation was a massive waste of my time.

I plan on filing a formal complaint because this is the fourth time I've experienced such poor service.
Jose Kim (22/06/2025, 17:56):
Apart from the lengthy wait, everything else seems to be alright.
Juan Ramirez (21/06/2025, 09:25):
I gave this pharmacy 4 stars because I appreciate how busy the staff must be. They handle a high volume of prescriptions every day, especially with two surgeries located nearby. The shop is small and there are only 5-6 staff members, but they are always friendly. If the shop were larger with more staff, there would likely be fewer complaints about waiting times and long queues. Therefore, I believe the staff are doing a great job considering the circumstances. 👍
Sara Fisher (21/06/2025, 04:12):
Upon attempting to collect my prescription, I was informed to return in two days. Two days later, I waited in line outside for thirty minutes only to be told that the item was not available and to return in another two days. This level of service is appalling and quite frankly unacceptable. I will be taking my business elsewhere for my prescriptions moving forward.
Nancy James (14/06/2025, 18:59):
My father, who is 91 years old, has been receiving a subpar delivery service from the pharmacy!! When Rebecca, the manager, was in charge, she made every effort to improve the pharmacy's services to meet the needs of customers and always ensured that my father received his prescriptions on time. If there was a delay, she made sure to arrange for the medication to be delivered promptly, even if it was just for him. However, when she was not around, the other staff members did not take responsibility. The longest delay we experienced was two weeks!! For instance, there was an urgent need for my father's blood pressure tablets. I called on Monday, informing them that he would run out by Friday and it was crucial to have them by then. However, the tablets did not arrive until Tuesday. As a result, my elderly father was left without his medication for three days. The attitude of the staff over the phone was appalling. One of them suggested that he could walk to get the medication. If he could walk that distance, why would I request a delivery service in the first place? On another occasion, there was a two-week delay because the prescription was left untouched until Rebecca returned from her holidays. It is evident that they do not prioritize the well-being of their customers, and their attitude is unacceptable. Essentially, the message conveyed is if the delivery does not come, then come and collect it yourself. As I work full time, I rely on the delivery service to ensure that my father's medication is delivered on time. I always call to confirm the delivery, and they assure me that it will be delivered since it is marked as home delivery in the system, only for it to not arrive. Today, the doctor is sending a new prescription, and I am dreading the stress they might cause him. If there were another pharmacy nearby that offered delivery services, I would switch in a heartbeat. If only there was one nearby!!!
Mary Adams (13/06/2025, 19:27):
Extremely helpful and knowledgeable
Timothy Graham (13/06/2025, 19:04):
This pharmacy is always buzzing, but I don't mind the wait when it comes to my health. The team here really goes the extra mile to assist with any issue you may have. The staff are always there to lend a hand and have been incredibly helpful to me on numerous occasions. So, a big thank you to all of them!
