Exploring Rowlands Pharmacy Loanhead: A Comprehensive Overview

Rowlands Pharmacy in Loanhead, Midlothian, has been a vital resource for the community, providing various pharmaceutical services. However, customer feedback highlights areas that warrant attention and improvement.

Accessibility Features

One of the critical aspects of any pharmacy is its accessibility. Rowlands Pharmacy boasts a wheelchair-accessible entrance and a wheelchair-accessible car park, making it easier for all customers to access their services. This commitment to accessibility ensures that those with mobility challenges can obtain their medications without hassle.

Service Options and In-Store Pick-Up

While Rowlands Pharmacy offers in-store pick-up for prescriptions, experiences reported by customers reveal inconsistencies. Many users have described quick visits that turn into extended waits due to communication issues between the pharmacy and medical practices. Customers have experienced stress and frustration trying to get urgent medications, leading to a sense of unease about the reliability of service options available.

Payments Made Easy

In terms of payments, Rowlands Pharmacy accepts debit cards, credit cards, and NFC mobile payments, ensuring convenience for all customers. However, experiences shared indicate that despite these payment options, the overall service quality can affect customer satisfaction significantly.

Customer Experiences and Areas for Improvement

The feedback from patrons suggests a mix of positive and negative experiences. While some commend the staff's friendliness and helpfulness, others criticize the lack of empathy and poor communication when addressing prescription queries. Numerous reviews mention instances where customers felt dismissed or received sarcastic remarks when asking about their medications. Such interactions highlight the need for training in customer service skills, especially in high-pressure environments where patients may be anxious or in pain.

Conclusion

Rowlands Pharmacy Loanhead serves an essential role in the community by providing access to medications and health advice. The accessibility features like a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking are commendable. However, significant improvements in service options and customer interaction are needed to enhance the overall experience. Striking a balance between efficiency and compassionate care will be crucial for maintaining customer loyalty and trust in the long run.

Lovely pharmacy, I must say. The usual pharmacist is quite helpful and pleasant. Occasionally, the wait for prescription pick-ups can be a tad on the long side, but one must understand the circumstances surrounding it. With the recent closure of Lloyds Pharmacy, the increasing number of new homes being constructed (resulting in strained infrastructure), and the limited count of pharmacies in the vicinity, delays are somewhat inevitable.
Rebecca Thompson (03/07/2025, 15:29):
The pharmacist seems to be lacking in competence and appears to have an arrogant attitude. Surprisingly, he tends to shift the blame onto the counter staff for his own errors, even though they frequently have to compensate for his mistakes. Recently, my husband was given the wrong medication, which only became apparent after he had taken it and experienced a migraine as a result.

Furthermore, this pharmacy is reluctant to provide certain sensitive services that are readily available online through other pharmacies. Their unhelpful and inconsiderate behavior is evident, especially when discussing clients in a negative manner without awareness that the client can still hear them over the phone. It would be beneficial for them to implement a hold function on their phone system, as it is highly unprofessional to handle calls in such a manner.

I have observed a decline in the quality of service at this pharmacy over the past few years, and it is disappointing to see.

David and the Rowlands team are truly the most accommodating we've come across in years. Outstanding service.
Judy Morgan (25/06/2025, 15:16):
I recently caught the flu, but no worries, I got it sorted out at the pharmacy.
Michelle Myers (24/06/2025, 06:46):
I have always had a great experience with the staff at this pharmacy. They have always been very helpful and polite.
Daniel Walker (23/06/2025, 10:49):
I have gone without my antipsychotic medication for four days into the new year. It's been going on for six months now, constantly chasing after a prescription. This is getting reported to the health board, no doubt about it!!!
Matthew Rodriguez (20/06/2025, 17:12):
I don't often leave negative reviews, but I must say this pharmacy is truly the worst! The staff seem completely indifferent and when asked a question, their responses are often sarcastic with a complete lack of empathy. They also seem to change their minds frequently about whether they have certain medications in stock or not. And let's not forget the manager, who has promised on multiple occasions that my partner's prescription would be ready in a couple of hours, only for us to find out upon arrival that he hadn't even started it! What a complete joke of a place!
Alan Evans (11/06/2025, 07:28):
Every bloomin' time I ring the pharmacy, there's no answer! I had to go down there twice to check on my meds, only to be told they're not in yet. If they bothered to pick up the phone, they could've saved me a wasted trip.
Wayne Reyes (06/06/2025, 22:22):
Wow, this content is absolutely brilliant!
Samantha Hamilton (29/05/2025, 23:48):
I just wanted to express my utmost gratitude to the incredibly helpful gentleman who assisted me last Friday. I honestly can't thank you enough for your quick thinking and guidance in recommending an urgent optician appointment. Your actions may have saved the vision in my eye! I wholeheartedly endorse this pharmacy to all my fellow residents – truly exceptional service!
Cheryl Coleman (27/05/2025, 23:40):
I must say, the service was top-notch and the staff were ever so friendly. The shop was spotless and had a great variety of products.
Julie Hayes (27/05/2025, 02:17):
Absolutely fantastic service and exceptional customer care. The staff were so friendly, the store was impeccably clean, and they had thorough COVID safety measures in place. We are thankful for their assistance with our flu vaccination.
Andrew Morris (24/05/2025, 13:20):
Top-notch!
The staff was incredibly friendly and couldn't have been more accommodating.
Shirley Fisher (23/05/2025, 22:57):
Ever since they revamped the store, it has expanded with ample storage space. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, and they have also enhanced the size of the consultation rooms.
Denise Roberts (20/05/2025, 05:16):
The staff at this pharmacy were extremely helpful and it's a relief to know that my monthly medications will now be ready on time. After the chaos of dealing with Lloyd's Pharmacy in Straiton for the past year, I'm grateful for the reliable service here.
Joyce Moore (15/05/2025, 07:39):
It's a real hassle getting your meds sometimes, innit? Takes forever and a day for them to sort it out, and then you're standing there twiddling your thumbs waiting for them to finally hand it over. And don't get me started on the queues – always seems like the pharmacy's busier than Piccadilly Circus! And what's with the mix-ups between the doctor's office and the pharmacy? Feels like they're playing pass-the-parcel with your prescription! Honestly, I'm sick of constantly having to chase up both the pharmacy and the GP surgery just to get my hands on my meds. It's enough to drive anyone round the bend!
Bradley Davis (14/05/2025, 16:56):
Amazing service and a really friendly team. They were super fast in getting the medication I required on the same day when I couldn't find it anywhere else.
