Honestly one of the most frustrating customer service encounters I've ever experienced. Went to pick up a click and collect order, but the till area was poorly signposted, which I only realized after this ordeal. There was a big sign saying "click and collect" that made it seem like you could pick up your order from that side of the till. I waited there, only for another woman to show up at the other side after me. When the customers being served left, I moved forward thinking I could be helped since I was there first. But instead, I was met with a very hostile attitude from a woman who seemed ready for an argument right from the start. She immediately accused me of cutting the line, claiming the other lady was there first and pointing to a different queue. I insisted I had been waiting there first, but she kept insisting that I was skipping the line and she would serve the other lady first. The whole time, her demeanor was rude and unpleasant. I tried to reason with her, asking to be served since I was there before the other lady. We went back and forth, both of us getting more and more frustrated. Finally, her colleague stepped in to help the woman next to me. The woman behind the till was clearly annoyed by this turn of events as she now had to attend to me. We continued our argument for a bit longer before she leaned in towards me and pointed in my face (without wearing a mask - despite the screens, keep your distance) and threatened not to serve me if I kept up my attitude. It felt like she was treating me like a child she could boss around. At that point, I was mentally drained and furious at the whole situation caused by this lady on a power trip over a simple disagreement about a queue. I told her to stop (although I know I shouldn't have reacted like that, I was just so fed up with this unnecessary conflict). She immediately refused to serve me, so I decided to leave.

I hope she enjoyed causing drama because this entire scenario was completely absurd and could have been easily avoided if she had just served me and politely explained where the pickup point was for future reference. Unpleasant woman.

It seems like there's a bit of a misunderstanding when it comes to customers of Black African heritage shopping at this store. Every time I come in, it feels like I have my own personal escort with someone on a walkie talkie tracking my every move. I'm just trying to purchase some skincare products, not planning a heist!

It's time to move into the 2020s and ditch this outdated paranoia. Let's all strive for a more inclusive and welcoming environment for customers of all backgrounds.
