Lindsay & Gilmour Pharmacy in East Calder is a well-known establishment in Livingston, providing essential pharmaceutical services to the community. However, it appears that the pharmacy has become a topic of local discussion due to varied customer experiences.

Accessibility and Service Options

The pharmacy boasts a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that all customers can easily access their services. They offer multiple service options, including in-store pick-up and delivery services, which are particularly beneficial for those unable to visit in person. Furthermore, they accept various payment methods such as credit cards, debit cards, and even NFC mobile payments, providing convenience for all customers.

Customer Experiences: The Good and The Bad

While many customers appreciate the pharmacy's accessibility and product range, others have expressed frustration with the customer service. Some reviews describe long waiting times, with reports of same-day delivery not being met and prescriptions often not ready on time. One user noted, “Unfortunately due to incompetence, we have had to move pharmacy to be able to successfully receive our 6-year-old son's medication.” Such experiences highlight the ongoing challenges faced by this pharmacy, especially amid a growing population that relies on timely service. Conversely, other patrons report positive interactions, praising staff members for their friendliness and helpfulness. One review states, “Danny was super helpful and gave great advice. Highly recommend!” This contrast in reviews suggests that while individual experiences may vary, the quality of service may depend on various factors such as staffing levels or busy periods.

Challenges and Recommendations

Many customers believe that the pharmacy struggles to cope with the increasing demand from the community. Suggestions for improvement include enhancing stock management practices and possibly increasing staff to ensure better service during peak hours. A reviewer mentioned, “The manager needs to order more stock in advance if possible,” indicating a proactive approach towards improving service levels. Additionally, effective communication with customers could alleviate frustration; a simple acknowledgment of their wait could enhance the overall experience.

Yesterday I popped by to drop off my prescription. They informed me they were closed until 4pm, struggling to keep up with the demand. I inquired about leaving it for later pick-up, given the circumstances, but was simply turned away and the door shut.
This incident marks the second time this has happened (the first being before the COVID outbreak). Thankfully, I can drive to another location, but what about those who walk all the way there only to be met with a closed door?
Kimberly Bailey (31/05/2025, 12:36):
The chemist I visit most often is absolutely delightful, so friendly and helpful. I don't think they realize it, but they've truly been my saving grace throughout my transition.
Aaron Rodriguez (31/05/2025, 05:45):
The staff here are absolutely brilliant, always ready to lend a hand no matter how busy they may be. They do a great job of keeping you updated on when your order will be ready, and the delivery drivers are super friendly and efficient at getting your items to your door. I can't say enough good things about the amazing staff here!
Jesse Garcia (27/05/2025, 14:06):
The pharmacy is phenomenal! Prescriptions always ready to go on time and the staff is just delightful - always sporting a cheerful smile.
Angela Anderson (26/05/2025, 17:01):
I've visited this pharmacy on several occasions, and the staff have consistently been friendly and helpful. I feel the negative reviews are unwarranted.
It is unrealistic for some customers to expect immediate medication dispensing. The pharmacy team is always busy and working hard, especially with a rapidly expanding local community.
My only suggestion would be for the manager to proactively order more stock to avoid running out, but overall, it's a fantastic pharmacy.
