Lindsay & Gilmour Pharmacy East Calder: A Local Pharmacy with Mixed Reviews

Lindsay & Gilmour Pharmacy in East Calder is a well-known establishment in Livingston, providing essential pharmaceutical services to the community. However, it appears that the pharmacy has become a topic of local discussion due to varied customer experiences.

Accessibility and Service Options

The pharmacy boasts a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that all customers can easily access their services. They offer multiple service options, including in-store pick-up and delivery services, which are particularly beneficial for those unable to visit in person. Furthermore, they accept various payment methods such as credit cards, debit cards, and even NFC mobile payments, providing convenience for all customers.

Customer Experiences: The Good and The Bad

While many customers appreciate the pharmacy's accessibility and product range, others have expressed frustration with the customer service. Some reviews describe long waiting times, with reports of same-day delivery not being met and prescriptions often not ready on time. One user noted, “Unfortunately due to incompetence, we have had to move pharmacy to be able to successfully receive our 6-year-old son's medication.” Such experiences highlight the ongoing challenges faced by this pharmacy, especially amid a growing population that relies on timely service. Conversely, other patrons report positive interactions, praising staff members for their friendliness and helpfulness. One review states, “Danny was super helpful and gave great advice. Highly recommend!” This contrast in reviews suggests that while individual experiences may vary, the quality of service may depend on various factors such as staffing levels or busy periods.

Challenges and Recommendations

Many customers believe that the pharmacy struggles to cope with the increasing demand from the community. Suggestions for improvement include enhancing stock management practices and possibly increasing staff to ensure better service during peak hours. A reviewer mentioned, “The manager needs to order more stock in advance if possible,” indicating a proactive approach towards improving service levels. Additionally, effective communication with customers could alleviate frustration; a simple acknowledgment of their wait could enhance the overall experience.

By addressing feedback and improving operational efficiency, this pharmacy has the potential to turn around its reputation and continue serving the East Calder area effectively. Great variety, speedy service, and extremely helpful and approachable staff.
Stephen Brown (24/07/2025, 02:51):
I popped down to the chemist to pick up my meds twice, and both times I was helped out by Danny. He's a proper gent, so polite and professional, always there to lend a hand with a smile. A real credit to the crew, he is.
Lisa Myers (21/07/2025, 10:59):
It's quite fortunate that I even gave it a single star. I placed an order for prescriptions through the "healthera" app, and the surgery processed it on July 12th. On July 27th, I reached out to Lindsay and Gilmorton, only to be told, "Yes, we have it here waiting for you."

When I inquired why I wasn't notified via the app, the response was, "We simply haven't had the time to update the app." Fifteen days later, now that's quite a stretch! It's no surprise your rating is so abysmally low.

Regrettably, we've had to transfer our pharmacy services to ensure a smooth process in obtaining our six-year-old son's medication for his eczema.

I typically refrain from leaving negative feedback, but today's experience was quite distressing. I waited for 20 minutes only to receive incorrect items for my son. When I inquired about the steroid cream - the only item I had actually ordered - one of the staff members (an older woman wearing glasses) condescendingly informed me that they did not have it and suggested that I take up the matter with the doctor's office.

Rather than assisting me further, the woman did not even have the courtesy to contact the doctor's office herself, requiring me to return to the GP and address the issue personally.

Thankfully, the kind lady at the doctor's office confirmed that the prescription had been sent two days prior and even called to double-check on my behalf.

Upon revisiting the pharmacy to collect the initially intended prescription, there was no acknowledgment or apology for the inconvenience caused by the wasted time.
Grace Miller (18/07/2025, 11:18):
The courteous staff has been receiving quite a bit of grief ever since the pharmacists changed, but the pharmacy serves a wide range of areas.
Arthur Kim (17/07/2025, 07:36):
I rang up the pharmacy earlier today to seek guidance on my prescribed medication, and I must say, the service I received from the lady on the other end of the line was absolutely splendid. She conducted herself with utmost professionalism, offered valuable assistance without any sense of haste, and even consulted the pharmacist for extra advice whenever she felt unsure about her response. Truly commendable service!
Brandon Myers (16/07/2025, 10:47):
Just recently relocated to this neighborhood and had a fantastic experience at this pharmacy. The team here is so friendly and welcoming. Danny was incredibly helpful and provided me with excellent guidance. Would definitely recommend this place!
Riley Martin (16/07/2025, 08:21):
These folks were really helpful, I must say.
William Reyes (10/07/2025, 11:54):
I placed an order for my prescription through the app on Sunday night and it showed as ordered by Monday morning. However, when I went to the pharmacy this Friday afternoon, they informed me that they had not received any orders from me since March. I explained that the app was showing the order as placed, but they mentioned that it might not have been sent to the doctor yet and could take 7-10 days. When I checked with my doctor's office after returning home, I found out that the pharmacy had not even requested the prescription. Waiting 10 days for a prescription seems unreasonable. I was told that due to the current pandemic, they are dealing with a higher volume of prescriptions, but this is not the first time I've been let down by this pharmacy. I have decided to switch to a different one. I would advise others to avoid this pharmacy.
Daniel Butler (07/07/2025, 16:27):
Like the previous reviewer mentioned, there seems to be a minimum 30-minute wait for prescriptions, even if you're the first one in the store at 9:00 am. Unacceptable service for a community on the rise - definitely in need of some competition.
Roger Cruz (05/07/2025, 05:07):
Every time I take my prescription to this pharmacy, they never have it in stock. The wait time for prescriptions is much too long, assuming they even have it in stock. I try to avoid using this pharmacy whenever I can. It's too small and struggling to keep up with the expanding community. The pharmacy in Mid Calder needs to open soon to alleviate the pressure, as it's clear that the one in East Calder is unable to meet the demand.
Lisa Kim (04/07/2025, 15:57):
I must say, my recent experience at this pharmacy left much to be desired. The receptionist and staff at the back were quite unwelcoming, and the service was rather slow due to being overstaffed. Despite understanding the current difficult circumstances, it seems that the efficiency of this pharmacy has always been lacking.
Jose Sullivan (02/07/2025, 22:08):
I must say, the wait for prescriptions at the pharmacy can be quite lengthy. It can certainly be a bit frustrating to have to wait for an extended period of time just to pick up your medication. Hopefully, pharmacies can find ways to reduce these waiting times in the future.
Anthony Stewart (02/07/2025, 00:40):
It's not unusual to wait for more than half an hour for someone to select a prescription. It's faster to drive into Livi and collect it.
Keith Gonzalez (30/06/2025, 15:25):
Top-notch service, I must say.
Peter Garcia (29/06/2025, 00:40):
The delivery service was quick and efficient, especially when I needed my prescription urgently.
Ethan Lewis (27/06/2025, 23:36):
Awful experience. This pharmacy moves slower than a snail. Prescriptions are hardly ever ready, so every time I pop in, I'm stuck waiting for at least 15 minutes. I've been a loyal customer for years, but even with the staff changing all the time, there's no sign of improvement whatsoever.
Jack Cooper (26/06/2025, 21:00):
The staff at this pharmacy are truly dedicated and always willing to lend a hand.
Elizabeth Perez (24/06/2025, 18:01):
I'm not convinced that the restructuring of the team is effective.
Victoria Thomas (22/06/2025, 21:20):
Absolutely dreadful. Never prepared, always look like they're swamped but never actually accomplishing anything. The customer service is non-existent, you're lucky if you even get a nod when you step through the door.

Today was especially frustrating. I stood there for 5 minutes alongside two other customers who seemed to be waiting for assistance. When one of the employees finally turned around and asked who's next, an individual who just walked in off the street jumped ahead and placed an order right away. The courteous thing would've been to ask the newcomer to wait, but nope, that seemed like too much effort for them.
