Exploring Well Pharmacy in Lockerbie: A Mixed Experience

Well Pharmacy, located in the heart of Lockerbie, offers a range of services including delivery, in-store shopping, and in-store pick-up. However, customer reviews highlight both commendable experiences and significant challenges faced by visitors.

Accessibility Features

For those with mobility concerns, Well Pharmacy is equipped with a wheelchair-accessible car park and a wheelchair-accessible entrance. This makes it easier for all customers to access the pharmacy's services. Yet, accessibility extends beyond just physical features; many users express the need for better communication and organization within the store.

Service Options and Payment Methods

Well Pharmacy provides a variety of service options, including NFC mobile payments, credit cards, and debit cards as payment methods. Despite these conveniences, customers have reported issues with prescription processing and staff availability, leading to frustrations, especially when needing medications urgently.

Customer Experiences

While some customers praise the helpful and friendly staff, others have voiced concerns regarding rudeness and inefficiency from newer employees. Comments reflect a mixed bag of experiences:

  • Some customers appreciated the delivery service offered free of charge during times without vehicle access.
  • Conversely, others criticized the long wait times and lack of responsiveness, stating that phone calls often go unanswered, leaving individuals without necessary medications.
  • Instances of medication shortages have also been noted, particularly for controlled substances when a pharmacist may not be available.

Challenges Faced by Customers

Reviews reveal a pattern of inefficient service characterized by long waits outside the pharmacy. An elderly customer shared their experience of walking miles to obtain a prescription only to discover it wasn't ready on time, highlighting broader concerns regarding the operational planning of the pharmacy.

The Importance of Communication

Many patrons noted that communication about lunch breaks and wait times is poor. Clarity on when the pharmacy is closed or when staff are unavailable could greatly enhance the customer experience. Regular customers suggest that this would minimize confusion and expedite the service process.

A Community Pharmacy with Room for Improvement

Overall, Well Pharmacy in Lockerbie remains a local option for pharmaceutical needs with a mixture of positive interactions and areas for growth. Recognizing the need for improved staff training and communication can help bridge the gap between the friendly service some have experienced and the dissatisfaction expressed by others. Additionally, it's crucial for pharmacies to remain adaptable and responsive to the needs of all customers, including the diverse LGBTQ+ community.

As Lockerbie continues to use its local pharmacy, ongoing feedback can foster an environment where both customer satisfaction and professional service thrive.

Benjamin Baker (05/06/2025, 23:56):
I am disappointed with the service provided at Lochmaben Pharmacy. An elderly 86-year-old woman visited the pharmacy on Monday to pick up a simple prescription, only to be told it would not be ready until Friday. This delay seems excessive for common standard medications. Upon her return on Friday, she was made to wait outside in a queue on the pavement and given only a 5-day supply instead of the usual 28-day supply. This has inconvenienced the elderly woman, forcing her to make another trip this week to obtain the rest of her supplies, despite having to walk well over a mile each time. This level of service is simply not acceptable.
