The Mill Centre in Bathgate: An Overview

The Mill Centre, located in Bathgate, has seen better days. Once a bustling shopping mall, it now struggles with numerous challenges that have led to a significant decline in foot traffic and store occupancy.

On-Site Services and Accessibility

While The Mill Centre provides on-site services such as a local chemist, a post office, and a few essential shops, the overall experience is marred by its current state. Many visitors express disappointment at the lack of maintenance and care. Comments highlight the presence of a wheelchair-accessible car park and a wheelchair-accessible entrance, which are great features for accessibility; however, the overall condition detracts from the user experience.

Service Options Available

Among the service options available, the cafe has received some positive feedback for its breakfast offerings. Customers have praised the affordability and quality of food, particularly enjoying traditional items like Lorne sausage and beans. Unfortunately, this positive aspect is overshadowed by the overwhelming sentiment of neglect and decay surrounding the shopping centre.

The Need for Revitalization

Numerous reviews indicate a desperate need for renovation: "Totally needs demolished and then a re-build." Many patrons feel that The Mill Centre has lost its charm and vitality, with half the shops shut and some showing disturbing signs of neglect such as fungus growth on the walls. This deterioration has resulted in an atmosphere that many describe as "depressing" and "dirty."

Community Impact

The sense of community seems to have dwindled within The Mill Centre, leading to phrases like "a ghost town" and "run-down dump." Patrons reminisce about when the centre was vibrant and full of life. As it stands, the combination of closed shops and unkempt premises creates an intimidating environment for potential customers.

The Future of The Mill Centre

Discussions about the future of The Mill Centre suggest a possible demolition or significant overhaul. Many locals hope for a revitalization that injects new life into the area, allowing it to once again serve as a valuable shopping destination for the community. For now, though, visitors may want to approach with caution, as sentiments about safety and cleanliness continue to raise concerns. In conclusion, while The Mill Centre offers some basic on-site services and accessibility features, its current state highlights the pressing need for improvement and community support to bring back its former glory.

This mall is like a ghost town now, with only a few shops remaining. It used to be a bustling shopping center. It's truly disheartening to witness the neglect it has suffered under the English parent company.
Arthur Reyes (27/07/2025, 18:23):
There's a distinct aroma of cannabis in the air.
Vincent Jackson (27/07/2025, 12:15):
I will give a review once it is all done.
Billy Reyes (26/07/2025, 07:35):
Blackburn is done for, mate. This could be a smashing little shopping mall for the town. Cheers!
Jonathan Hayes (25/07/2025, 01:46):
The chip shop here has absolutely brilliant prices, I must say.
Mark Taylor (24/07/2025, 00:10):
This shopping mall is in desperate need of a total revamp. It would be fantastic to see it demolished and rebuilt with modern shops and a charming café. The current outdated design just doesn't cut it anymore.
Harper Peterson (22/07/2025, 12:54):
Well, if I'm being completely honest, it's just okay. It has a couple of shops, a chip shop, a post office, and a butcher's.
Kyle Kelly (21/07/2025, 09:57):
The Lothian region boasts an array of top-notch shopping destinations that cater to all tastes and styles. Whether you're looking for high-end designer boutiques or unique local shops, there's something for everyone in Lothian. With a vibrant mix of retailers and eateries, shopping in the Lothian region is a truly unforgettable experience.

I couldn't find anything there, and it seems like scotmid has a very limited range of options.
Doris Simmons (18/07/2025, 12:55):
There are only 3 Polish stores, a betting shop, and a charity shop in the mall. It constantly appears untidy because it is. A rather dismal shopping center. Rating: 0 out of 10.
Bruce Robinson (14/07/2025, 19:38):
Spotted some shops closed, must be getting a makeover!
Leonard Nelson (13/07/2025, 06:42):
There ain't no precautions taken at some businesses.
Angela Gutierrez (12/07/2025, 15:45):
The staff is so friendly and helpful, and they offer a wide range of products to choose from. Truly a great shopping experience at this mall!
Roger Turner (10/07/2025, 09:34):
The lack of community spirit at 4k da@n shopping mall is concerning as it faces potential closure with uncertainty looming over what will happen next.
Aaron Ward (09/07/2025, 13:28):
There wasn't much to it, but the cafe was decent enough.
Louis Morales (08/07/2025, 21:55):
A most convenient spot for all your shopping needs!
Zachary Cruz (07/07/2025, 03:31):
This shopping mall is not the most ideal spot for retail therapy.
Joe Bennett (07/07/2025, 01:33):
I've never set foot inside, so I can't really comment on it.
Andrew Cruz (05/07/2025, 03:29):
Not the most appealing spot in West Lothian. I wouldn't exactly make a detour to visit. Perhaps if you fancy a bit of culture, it might be worth checking out. It's probably best to go sooner rather than later, as it's set to be demolished.
William Johnson (04/07/2025, 16:47):
It's all right, mate. The co-op didn't have what you were after.
