I arrived at the store around 6:00 PM and was dismayed to find only one checkout lane open, with a queue of 8 people ahead of me and no signs of any additional lanes opening up.

Updating my previous review, I must say that before 8:00 AM, there are no checkouts open whatsoever (I'm unsure when they shut them down). Customers are required to use the self-checkout option, which may be suitable for a small purchase but not for a full cart of items. The process is extremely time-consuming, especially with the need to constantly look up items. It's apparent that this supermarket has significantly declined in quality over the past few years.

This market is absolutely huge and fully equipped, and the team members are usually quite friendly and accommodating. I would've rated it five stars if their delivery service wasn't so inconsistent and if they didn't have the tiniest lift imaginable, which is frequently out of order. As a customer who relies on walking aids or wheelchairs, when the lift is not working, they miss out on my business.
Cynthia Morris (26/05/2025, 21:33):
Fantastic for a quick shop, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the option for click and collect is so convenient and easy to use. Love it!
Roger Gutierrez (24/05/2025, 03:10):
The staff were absolutely lovely, but I must say the stew and dumplings left something to be desired. The stew lacked flavor, the carrots were a bit too chunky, and the gravy was like glue - reminiscent of wallpaper paste. Additionally, it was disappointing that the dish didn't come with chips or potatoes.

We ventured to Asda last year to kick off our serious Christmas shopping spree. It was November. Amidst the hustle and bustle of kids, attire, and moving, we somehow got confused about who was responsible for handling the parking payment. Asda offers a refund for parking when you shop with them, so there was no intention of avoiding the charge. I assumed my wife was taking care of it, while she thought I was. After we finished our shopping and returned to the car, lo and behold, a parking notice awaited us!
I promptly brought the notice inside and explained the mix-up to the kind lady at the counter, presenting my receipt from that day's Asda purchase. She graciously took it from me, assuring me that it would be cancelled as a gesture of goodwill.
Isn't that charming?
NO. It isn't. Because what actually happened was the complete opposite. I believed the charge had been dismissed, only to find myself now dealing with a debt collection agency over an issue I thought was resolved long ago. Supposedly, they sent me a parking charge notice, but I haven't laid eyes on it. And now, it has ballooned to three times its original amount, fueling my animosity towards ASDA in Livingston to no end.
Will I fork over the money?
Not a chance.
Will I set foot in there again?
Absolutely not.

I've been 'avin a jolly good go at gettin' a refund for them rejected substitutes in me home shoppin' order for a good 2 months now. I'm all right with takin' the items back, but they're not so keen on givin' me back me dosh. Been told a total of 8 times that it'll be in me account within 5 days. Bit of a right kerfuffle, ain't it?
Lucy Reyes (21/05/2025, 09:04):
Earlier today, I found myself perusing the aisles of the local supermarket when I encountered a rather sizable water spill in the refrigerated section. Despite being there for a good 15-20 minutes, no member of staff made an effort to address this issue. It seems the company may not prioritize customer safety as much as one would hope.
Ava Hall (20/05/2025, 03:01):
When inquiring about the absence of an item, employees often give a generic response like "It's not a good seller," which is quite lackluster. It's disappointing to note that one of the shutters on the premises is broken and an escalator is currently out of order. Additionally, many of the expected items, such as fruits and vegetables, are missing from the shelves.

I understand that ASDA has seen a decline in market share and a reduction in the owners' wealth as per The Rich List. However, it raises questions whether the management is deliberately letting the store deteriorate for a potential takeover.
Riley Jackson (19/05/2025, 05:18):
One must always be cautious of the promotional labels at Asda, as they may end up charging you the full price in their system. It's important to remember that photographs are not accepted as evidence of promotions, as they could potentially be from another Asda location not affiliated with the one you are shopping at.
Zoey Gonzales (13/05/2025, 19:17):
My sincere apologies for the unfortunate experience you had on midday Saturday, June 25th, 2022, at the self-scan area. We approached a staff member to inquire about deducting the parking fee from our purchases and were met with disrespectful treatment, as if we were insignificant. The attitude and demeanor displayed were truly disappointing. Our impression of your company has been greatly tarnished.
Gabriel Campbell (13/05/2025, 06:59):
I had a dreadful experience at the self-checkout today. My red light came on, requiring someone to authorize my purchase. One employee seemed to be intentionally ignoring me while directing others, while another was chatting away with two customers. There were three red lights on in total.

After waiting for a long time, I approached the employee directing traffic, and suddenly a red light popped up near her, which she promptly attended to. She clearly knew I had been waiting and saw me approaching, but chose to attend to this new alert first. Another frustrated customer came up behind me, and although neither of us said a word, the employee responded with, "I can only serve one person at a time," before walking off to find a barcode scanner. I told her I would wait there, which seemed to lead to deliberate delays...

The attitude was extremely poor, the performance subpar, and it felt borderline insulting.
Evelyn Collins (10/05/2025, 04:45):
I must say, the PIZZA from Asda used to be quite satisfactory, but the batch we received today was absolutely ludicrous! We had ordered 3 pizzas, yet only one was palatable. I simply cannot comprehend how they could send out such subpar quality food to their customers. Do they not realize the potential dangers of consuming such items? This experience has left me incredibly disheartened, and I can assure you that I will not be making any future orders from Asda.
Stephanie Lopez (09/05/2025, 20:23):
I am quite puzzled by the abundance of bare shelves no matter what time of day I visit. Several items that I frequently purchase have been unavailable for weeks now, and one of them has been missing for a whole 6 weeks with no sign of return. At first, I thought perhaps Asda had ceased stocking them, but to my surprise, they are still available online and at the Stockton store when I visited last week. This situation is rather disheartening as I have been a loyal Asda shopper for many years, but it may be time for me to explore other options.
Karen Gutierrez (07/05/2025, 03:32):
I popped into Asda today in search of a particular item, and the lovely staff member Kim who I approached for assistance was truly outstanding. She went the extra mile to locate the product, and as a result, I left as an extremely satisfied customer.
Betty Bailey (07/05/2025, 02:43):
I must say, I was rather disappointed with the limited variety of food items available at this supermarket. It was quite frustrating to see entire sections of fridges and shelves blocked off, and the items that were visible had significant gaps between them. To make matters worse, I came across some food in the fridge section that was a shocking 3 days past its expiration date, just sitting there for all to see.

I can't help but feel like I didn't get good value for my money, as now I'll have to make an extra trip mid-week to ensure we have enough supplies to last us. Asda used to be my preferred choice for grocery shopping, but I think I'll be giving Tesco a try in the future.
Jose Cook (05/05/2025, 02:58):
Due to a dodgy leg, I had to utilize one of the store's buggies. The lady at the checkout arranged for a porter to take my shopping to my car, absolutely fantastic. When I tried to give him a tip, I was informed he couldn't accept it due to company policy. I've been using this store since it first opened and now I can't stress enough how wonderful the staff is.
Kimberly Thompson (29/04/2025, 17:42):
I spent the whole day eagerly anticipating my online grocery delivery, which was originally scheduled to arrive a few hours late. However, it never showed up. I've been unable to reach their customer service, and when I finally managed to get through to a different department after waiting 24 hours past the expected delivery time, I was transferred back to the online shopping team only to be abruptly hung up on. This level of service is absolutely disgraceful.
Peter Kelly (26/04/2025, 02:23):
The shelves were shockingly bare. I couldn't even find sellotape to purchase!
Jesse Roberts (23/04/2025, 16:24):
A massive Superstore catering to the folks residing in the vicinity of Livingston. The shelves are consistently well-stocked with a wide array of items. Ample parking space is at hand. Being part of a shopping mall, it's convenient to hop over to other shops within the complex. However, one downside is the absence of Paypoint services, which is a departure from other ASDA outlets. On the bright side, the clothing selection here outshines that of other ASDA branches in the Edinburgh region.
