Overview of Braid Vets Hospital in Edinburgh

Braid Vets Hospital, located in Edinburgh, is a veterinary practice that aims to provide quality care for pets. Known for its wheelchair-accessible car park, the facility ensures that all pet owners can access its services without hassle.

Accessibility Features

The hospital prides itself on being wheelchair-accessible with an entrance and a dedicated wheelchair-accessible toilet. Additionally, there are other amenities such as clean restrooms that cater to all visitors. The focus on accessibility demonstrates the hospital's commitment to inclusivity, making it a suitable option for everyone in the community, including those with disabilities.

Community Values

Braid Vets Hospital is recognized for being LGBTQ+ friendly, creating an open and welcoming environment for all pet owners. This communal spirit is reflected in the positive experience reported by many clients, who appreciate the warmth and professionalism of the staff.

Appointment Booking

While walk-ins are accepted, it is recommended to make appointments to ensure timely service. Many reviews highlight a crowd during peak hours, indicating the popularity of the clinic. Scheduling in advance can help minimize wait times, allowing pet owners to focus on their furry companions’ health.

Client Experiences

Reviews of Braid Vets convey a mixed bag of experiences. Some clients commend the quick service during emergencies, noting how their pets were seen promptly and treated with care. Positive experiences often mention the compassionate handling of pets, such as one instance where a vet took the time to comfort a distressed dog with a warm blanket during a medical scare. However, not all feedback has been glowing. Multiple reviews point out concerns regarding costs and transparency. Complaints about sudden price increases after initial consultations have caused frustration among pet owners, leading some to feel unsure about the vet's motivations. For example, one client expressed dissatisfaction when their dog underwent surgery, only to find out that the costs had unexpectedly doubled.

Final Thoughts

Overall, while Braid Vets Hospital showcases strong accessibility features and a caring staff, it's essential for prospective clients to weigh both the positive and negative reviews regarding service and pricing. Ensuring you have a clear understanding of potential costs and communicating any concerns directly with the staff is advisable when considering veterinary care for your pets. Whether you’re seeking emergency treatment or routine check-ups, Braid Vets offers a comprehensive service, but be sure to plan ahead to navigate the Veterinary landscape effectively.

We had a fantastic experience with Braid Vets! We are from the US and needed to update our dog's vaccinations before returning home, and this was during the Covid-19 pandemic. Braid Vets had excellent social distancing measures in place. While I can't comment on the interior of the facility, the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. We wish we could have Allison as our permanent vet! Allison was truly wonderful, we adored her and wholeheartedly recommend her!

Booking appointments is a breeze, requesting prescriptions is simple, and receiving guidance is just a click away. Plus, there's plenty of convenient parking available outside.
Tyler Lee (25/07/2025, 18:34):
Outstanding service. My kitty required attention late on a Sunday evening. They delivered quick and expert care. Much appreciated.
Steven Howard (24/07/2025, 13:04):
My little Jack Russell named Isla wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the exceptional care provided by the folks at Events and Braids. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved.
Wayne Morgan (24/07/2025, 07:58):
Yesterday I popped over to Braid Vets Hospital to get one of my pet budgies looked at. It was after hours and there weren't any exotic vets around, but the vet Giuseppe was an absolute gem and gave me some great tips. Thankfully, my budgie perked up and was back to his chirpy self shortly after. Much appreciated!

MISSING THE MARK!!! My pooch is dealing with kidney issues, yet the veterinarian from Braid Vets attributed his frequent urination to old age (and charged nearly £100 for it). Unbelievable...
Frank James (18/07/2025, 05:59):
I recently reached out for a quote to have my dog spayed. £550? I must say, this quote doesn't quite sit right with me. After contacting Gordon's Vet, I was given a price of £350 for the same procedure. It's always advisable to explore your options and compare prices before settling on a quote from this particular establishment.
Barbara Reed (18/07/2025, 02:56):
The team at the vet's office is absolutely wonderful. They are so patient and kind, which makes it easy for me to bring my dog in for his appointments. We have been coming in quite often due to a persistent skin issue, but surprisingly, my dog actually seems to enjoy his visits!
Sara Coleman (15/07/2025, 20:10):
Hands down, the top veterinarian in the entire country. The team is consistently friendly and professional. They take excellent care of our furry friend and truly listen to any worries we may have. I would wholeheartedly recommend them for your beloved family member.
Christian Campbell (14/07/2025, 23:17):
They did a fantastic job looking after my feline friend and were excellent at keeping me informed about his health status.
Amanda Ramos (11/07/2025, 09:13):
Outstanding service, truly caring yet practical. It may be costly, but that's what insurance is for. Keeping my fingers crossed I won't have to return, but if my furry friend requires it, I'll not think twice about returning.
Kelly Russell (10/07/2025, 10:17):
If you're looking to ensure the well-being of your furry companions, I would strongly advise steering clear of this establishment!!!! I had a pair of guinea pigs and wanted to find a vet close to home to minimize the stress of travel for my pets, but that turned out to be a huge mistake. The vets at this place have absolutely no clue when it comes to guinea pigs!!! One of my guinea pigs, 2.5 years old, was favoring one leg, so we took her in – a tall gentleman (whose name I never caught) said the leg was fine but couldn't figure out what was ailing my guinea pig. He administered a painkiller injection and instructed us to return the following day. The next day, we were seen by a different vet, Amy Cameron, who remarked, "I have no idea what's going on with her – she's not talking to me," well, my guinea pig doesn't speak human language! She prescribed the same painkiller again and charged us double the fee of £70 without providing a diagnosis. This led my partner to become quite upset and demand that Lisa, my guinea pig, be evaluated by another vet on staff for a second opinion. He was asked to wait outside the room, and once he complied, my Lisa was taken to a separate room by Amy Cameron and a student (I wasn't permitted to accompany them). They returned after five minutes, suggesting a potential mass which might be cancerous, but to confirm, a biopsy costing £100 was required. I couldn't hold back my tears and was inconsolable. Eventually, my partner and I opted to seek out a different vet who was finally knowledgeable enough to conduct urine tests to check for crystals (indicative of kidney stones in guinea pigs) or blood and bacteria in the urine (suggestive of a UTI). It turned out that Lisa had a UTI and was promptly treated with antibiotics, making a full recovery and now thriving happily.

Upon inquiring with my circle of friends about their experiences with Braid Vet, several of them shared similar sentiments - they felt like they were merely shelling out money without receiving any clear answers regarding their pets' conditions. I strongly urge you to spare your beloved pets from the distress of dealing with Braid Vet, as their lack of expertise is evident, and their focus seems to be solely on financial gain. I made the switch to another vet where the staff possesses both knowledge and empathy, taking the time to care for your pet properly. Both of my guinea pigs are now under their expert care because I trust them wholeheartedly! They truly saved my pets.

If you cherish your animals as much as I do, I implore you to avoid Braid Vet Hospital at all costs - they lack competence and prioritize profits above all else!!!!!!!!!
Christian Richardson (09/07/2025, 23:55):
Truly the finest service I could have wished for during a terribly stressful and upsetting time - Amy is one of the most delightful individuals I have ever encountered, with such compassion. Much gratitude for looking after my little dog (and me!).
Randy Allen (09/07/2025, 02:15):
Furious review, written in deep sorrow, has been deleted for now - as I gather my thoughts to compose an official complaint.
For the time being: exercise caution and patience with a certain lady mentioned in a couple of reviews, commended for her dog/puppy care skills.
My interactions with her - while my cat was hospitalized with a terminal illness and during his end-of-life care - were drastically different from the accounts of others.
She not only serves as an impolite receptionist but also doubles as a veterinary nurse, so keep in mind that she may be tending to your pet.

If you plan to contact this veterinary hospital via email, make sure to CC yourself for documentation purposes. Based on my experience, emails may not appear in your 'sent' folder unless you copy yourself; therefore, you cannot be certain they receive your messages (as they frequently go unanswered.)

Unacceptably poor service all around. If it were possible, I would award zero stars.

For those who qualify and are facing financial constraints, note that there is a vet hospital in Gorgie which provides complimentary and discounted services for pets to individuals receiving benefits who have registered with them.
Gary Cooper (07/07/2025, 07:38):
We've been bringing our cats to Braid Vets Hospital for all their needs since they were wee ones. We are absolutely thrilled with the warm and top-notch service we have experienced.
Bobby Green (05/07/2025, 03:19):
I was feeling overwhelmed with first-time cat mum worries when I decided to call and inquire about the frequency of my wee kitten's litter tray visits. The man I spoke with was incredibly kind and understanding, although I didn't catch his name. He calmly reassured me, provided helpful advice, and alleviated my concerns. It was a fantastic introduction to this service! Thank you very much!
Layla Foster (04/07/2025, 00:38):
We were charged 60 pounds for a kennel cough vaccine appointment... a bit pricey, don't you think?
Riley Ramos (02/07/2025, 17:44):
I must express my disappointment with the way my feline companion was handled and misdiagnosed during several appointments. Despite their claims of valuing customer feedback, my attempts to address the issues directly through the provided email were met with denial of any wrongdoing. Their insistence on internal complaints procedures as the sole recourse is concerning. The Veterinary Client Mediation Service stepped in to assist, but Braid Vets flat out refused to engage, which speaks volumes. I strongly advise steering clear of this veterinary practice, as it appears profit takes precedence over quality care. Legal counsel has now been sought in this matter.

Update as of 27/03/24: I did send an email to the address specified in your response on 23/02/24 and am currently awaiting a reply.
Austin Kelly (02/07/2025, 09:01):
Booking an appointment is a breeze, the pet healthcare plan is incredibly beneficial, and the veterinarians are all exceedingly gentle and meticulous.
Ryan Hayes (02/07/2025, 06:59):
I've been taking my pooch to Braid Vets for a good 8 years now, and I must say, I've always felt incredibly well taken care of. My furry friend has some ongoing health issues that need careful monitoring, and the routine check-ups laid out in her treatment plan offer a great deal of comfort. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving her in anyone else's hands - these folks are top-notch!
