Monifieth Medical Practice: Family Practice Physician Services

Monifieth Medical Practice, located in Dundee, is a crucial healthcare provider catering to the community's medical needs. With its focus on family practice, it aims to deliver comprehensive care. However, recent feedback from patients highlights areas for improvement, particularly concerning accessibility and the appointment scheduling process.

Amenities and Accessibility

The facility is equipped with essential amenities, including a wheelchair-accessible car park and a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that all patients can access the services provided. Moreover, there are wheelchair-accessible toilets available for patient convenience, an important factor for those with mobility challenges. Despite these positive aspects, many individuals have expressed dissatisfaction with the practice’s administrative staff. Comments reflect ongoing issues with accessibility, particularly regarding appointment availability.

Appointment System Challenges

Patients frequently report difficulties in securing appointments. Many have noted that they must call early in the morning to book an appointment but find that by the time they get through, no slots are left. This has led to frustration, with some describing the experience as "impossible" and a significant deterrent to seeking medical help. While it is generally recommended to schedule appointments ahead of time, the current system appears inadequate for handling the growing demand in the Monifieth area. Some users have voiced their concern that receptionists discourage patients by being unhelpful or rude. This has created an atmosphere where individuals feel reluctant to reach out for assistance.

Patient Experiences

Feedback from visitors reveals a divided sentiment about Monifieth Medical Practice. While many have praised the doctors for their professionalism, others have directed criticism towards the reception team. Reports of rude and dismissive behavior from specific receptionists are troubling, making patients feel unwelcome and unstated. One patient's experience highlighted the inadequacy of the appointment system when they were advised to contact their GP only to receive a telephonic consultation, questioning how effective that could be for assessing health conditions like blood pressure.

Conclusion

Monifieth Medical Practice serves a vital role in the community, providing essential healthcare services. However, patient feedback emphasizes the urgent need for improvements in the appointment system and reception staff interaction. As the practice continues to grow alongside the population, addressing these challenges will be critical in ensuring accessible and respectful healthcare for all patients. For future visits, it remains advisable to plan ahead by recommending patients call early to secure an appointment, understanding that both appointments are recommended and appointment required for effective service delivery.

Steven Nguyen (21/07/2025, 00:35):
I must say, it's quite a challenge getting an appointment at this place! By 8:15, all the slots are already filled, and when you express your frustration, they simply blame it on the size of their catchment area. But one would think the number of appointments/doctors should be proportionate to that, wouldn't you agree?
Ryan Adams (20/07/2025, 16:32):
I would give zero stars if I could. Every time I ring up, all I hear is that they're only handling emergencies and to call back at 8 a.m. the next day. But even when I do, all the appointments have already been taken. The receptionist staff are unhelpful and quite rude over the phone and in person. I once witnessed them shouting at an elderly man just because he was a bit confused. This is why I avoid going to the doctor's as much as possible, as they always seem so unhelpful.
Joseph Young (20/07/2025, 10:00):
Sometimes, people don't take you seriously enough. They give you the runaround with continuous medication instead of referring you to the right department for tests. They are hesitant to make phone calls at times, especially because of one particular doctor who can be quite intimidating.
Danielle Coleman (19/07/2025, 13:07):
The doctors, receptionists, and nurses are very understanding. However, it's quite unfortunate that with the rapid construction of so many new houses in the area, the surgery may soon struggle to keep up. Personally, I have never encountered any issues with the surgery.
Sophia Baker (15/07/2025, 15:02):
The physicians at this family practice are quite talented, however, their effectiveness is greatly diminished by the nurse practitioner who displays a severe lack of courtesy and a patronizing demeanor. Such unprofessional behavior is disappointing and can deter individuals from seeking necessary medical care.
Janice Thomas (08/07/2025, 23:54):
Top-notch practice. I always manage to snag an appointment when I need one.
Raymond Torres (08/07/2025, 16:50):
I'm having a spot of bother getting through on the blower, booking appointments is a right hassle, and oftentimes the reception staff or call handlers can be a tad cheeky, more so than other places. I understand they're up to their eyeballs and I value the hard work of the NHS, but when you're in the business of tending to folks who aren't feeling tip-top or are going through a rough patch, it's just not on.
Johnny Torres (08/07/2025, 16:26):
"Absolutely impossible to snag an appointment for the same day, even with a call at 08.00. Quite disappointing."
Dorothy Carter (08/07/2025, 11:39):
I had a rather unpleasant encounter with a very impolite receptionist on Thursday, March 6th. I inquired about speaking with someone as I was one week post-surgery and had not yet experienced a bowel movement despite using the medications provided by the hospital. When I mentioned that I had not been able to visit the pharmacist due to my condition, she informed me that there were no available appointments unless it was an emergency. I would have assumed that going 11 days without a bowel movement might qualify as just that. She then sighed disapprovingly and promised to have someone call me back. This is not the first negative experience I have had, and after speaking with others, it seems to be a common issue at this practice.
Marilyn Rodriguez (06/07/2025, 02:10):
Repeating what everyone else is saying. CAN'T GET AN APPOINTMENT. If you're not quick enough to start calling at 8:01, there's really no point; as you'll be number 30 in the queue and by the time you connect, all the appointments are gone. If you're lucky to get a call back from a GP, you have to explain (sometimes embarrassing) symptoms to a receptionist who isn't medically trained. The population of Monifieth is increasing while the healthcare center in Monifieth stays the same.
Larry Cox (04/07/2025, 12:12):
I do say, the process of getting a telephone appointment here does seem rather prolonged indeed. It took me a good week to secure one! Alas, I am yet to receive said phone call. Furthermore, some of the reception team do appear to act as gatekeepers, inquiring about the purpose of your call without always providing the appropriate assistance. A rather unfortunate practice, if I may say so.
Ralph Moore (28/06/2025, 06:38):
Booking appointments is a nightmare at this practice, mate. You have to ring at 8 sharp when the lines open, but by the time they answer, all the slots are gone. It's the worst GP practice I've ever been to. My mate over in Broughty Ferry never has any trouble getting an appointment. They really need to get their act together and sort this out.
Timothy Simmons (22/06/2025, 16:30):
I would fancy seeing phone consultations arranged by appointment time. 'Tis a nearly impossible system for folk who work, I say.
Brittany Gonzales (18/06/2025, 07:06):
After just relocating to the neighborhood, I found myself in need of assistance and had a plethora of inquiries. The folks I encountered were incredibly accommodating and exceedingly pleasant. Thank you kindly.
Rose Perez (16/06/2025, 14:48):
I must concur with the other unfavorable reviews. It's been impossible to secure an appointment no matter what I do. It seems like the administrative staff are actively dissuading patients. I was left with the impression that I was inconveniencing them. Regrettably, I can't offer any insight on the quality of care provided by the GPs as I have yet to be able to see one.
Judy Sullivan (06/06/2025, 20:08):
Carry on with the excellent work...
Bryan Cox (05/06/2025, 05:51):
I must say, there's this one receptionist who is just dreadful. She's terribly rude, quite obnoxious, never lets you get a word in edgewise, and she even tuts and huffs! It's as if she believes you have no business calling to talk to a Doctor, and is eager to inform you that they're short on appointments. I've raised concerns about this specific receptionist in the past, and I'll certainly not hesitate to do so again. It would be wise to reassign her away from morning calls and limit her patient interactions.
