Boots Pharmacy in Edinburgh: A Mixed Experience

When it comes to healthcare, accessibility and quality service are paramount. However, recent feedback about the Boots Pharmacy located in Edinburgh has raised concerns among its patrons.

Accessibility Issues

The pharmacy has a wheelchair-accessible entrance, making it easier for individuals with mobility challenges to access their services. Yet, reports of limited in-store shopping options have created frustration among customers. Many have noted the lack of essential items, such as cotton wool, contributing to a perception of inadequate stock.

Service Options: Where They Fall Short

Customers have expressed disappointment in the pharmacy's service options. Long wait times for prescriptions have been a recurring theme, with some suggesting that the staff requires further training in customer service. The pharmacy’s disorganization, particularly regarding prescription management, has led many to seek alternatives. Additionally, the pharmacy offers delivery services, which some customers have found beneficial. However, inconsistent service has made this option unreliable for others.

Quick Visits Turned into Long Waits

What should be a quick visit to pick up medications can quickly turn into an extensive ordeal. One customer reported waiting an astonishing 45 minutes in-store to sort out a recurring prescription issue. The need for better planning and organization within the pharmacy is evident, as patients frequently report long wait times and missing items from their prescriptions.

In-Store Pick-Up: A Frustrating Experience

While in-store pick-up should provide convenience, the reality often falls short. Complaints include not being notified when prescriptions are ready, mixed-up orders, and unhelpful staff. Many have mentioned leaving without their medications due to poor communication regarding prescription availability.

In-Store Shopping Challenges

Although Boots offers in-store shopping, the limited range of products has left many feeling dissatisfied. Patrons have noted recurring issues with stock shortages and an inconsistent supply of essential medications, which could pose significant risks for those with ongoing health concerns.

Payments Made Easy, but Still Problematic

Customers appreciate the payment options, including the acceptance of credit cards and NFC mobile payments. However, frustrations with service speed overshadow these conveniences. Quick transactions can be hindered by disorganization, leading to longer wait times at the counter.

Conclusion: Planning for Improvement

Despite some positive experiences shared by long-time customers, the overall sentiment towards the Boots Pharmacy on Ferry Road indicates a pressing need for improvement. From enhancing accessibility and service options to ensuring that customers receive their medications in a timely manner, there are numerous areas for the pharmacy to address. As it stands, many patrons are left planning their future prescription needs elsewhere, hoping for a more reliable service.

This pharmacy has really gone downhill, I can't seem to get through on the phone and the new staff doesn't seem to know what they're doing.
Jennifer Foster (25/06/2025, 02:52):
I've been coming to this Boots pharmacy on Ferry Road in Edinburgh for more than a decade now, and I have to say they are absolutely fantastic. Ever since I was diagnosed with cancer 4.5 years ago, they have truly gone the extra mile for me. They are always so compassionate on the phone and make sure to sort out my medications promptly. Just the other day, I had a chat with Mr. Gillan when I was feeling really unwell, and he assured me that the pharmacy would deliver my meds the next morning - now that's what I call top-notch service. Massive thanks to everyone working there!
Leonard Sanchez (20/06/2025, 13:06):
Not bad at all, I must say! Keep up the good work and you'll see great results in no time. Cheers!
Lauren Simmons (15/06/2025, 20:57):
This charming little Pharmacy may be on the petite side, but its staff is incredibly warm and accommodating.
Debra White (15/06/2025, 15:56):
The service provided is utterly insufficient, failing to maintain crucial backup medication and neglecting the regulations regarding duty of care.
Ethan Wright (12/06/2025, 13:28):
Sure thing! This mini pharmacy store is just what I needed.
Amy Fisher (07/06/2025, 15:31):
I must say, I am quite surprised that Boots has not made an effort to separate its brand from this particular pharmacy. It is not at all what one would typically associate with Boots. The establishment lacks essential items, such as cotton wool, and the customer service skills of the staff could certainly use some improvement. Additionally, the wait times for prescriptions are consistently lengthy. I have recently started using Clarks Pharmacy on Lindsay Road and have no intention of returning to Boots after this experience.
Thomas Roberts (05/06/2025, 12:50):
I waited a good 15 minutes just to drop off my prescription. Ended up having to call it quits. There was quite the line, and one of the employees seemed more focused on dusting the stairs than helping out the customers.
Rebecca Sanders (02/06/2025, 20:39):
I always seem to struggle to make a connection over the phone with this pharmacy, and their service standards leave much to be desired.
Abigail Sanchez (02/06/2025, 11:22):
I must say, the quality of the products and services provided by this pharmacy is quite poor.
Judith Jenkins (30/05/2025, 02:13):
The staff was quite helpful and friendly overall, although one of the pharmacists seemed unable to provide much assistance with a minor ailment. There was often a person waiting for methadone treatment who seemed unwell, and they were prioritized ahead of other customers, which was a bit frustrating.
Gloria Gonzales (29/05/2025, 19:44):
I must say, this pharmacy visit was an absolute disaster. The staff seemed completely incompetent and lacking in any sense of professionalism. After waiting for a painstaking 20 minutes, I was informed that they didn't even have all of my prescribed medication in stock, two weeks after it was originally ordered. When I expressed my frustration, instead of addressing the underlying issues, I was simply advised to switch pharmacies. In my opinion, this particular branch should be shut down indefinitely. The level of service provided here is truly appalling.
Judy Thomas (27/05/2025, 01:10):
I always have trouble with my prescriptions at this pharmacy. They keep missing items, even though I take the same medication every month. These are essential medicines that I rely on, and it's frustrating when they get it wrong. It takes me at least 45 minutes in the store every month to sort it out, and sometimes I have to make multiple trips because they never answer their phone. It's a complete disgrace.
