Rowlands Pharmacy: A Mixed Bag of Services on Edinburgh Road

Located in Penicuik, Rowlands Pharmacy has garnered both positive and negative feedback from its patrons. While some customers praise the excellent service offered by the staff, others express frustration over long wait times and unprofessional behavior.

Accessibility Features

One notable aspect of Rowlands Pharmacy is its commitment to accessibility. The pharmacy includes a wheelchair-accessible entrance, ensuring that everyone can access their services with ease. However, despite this physical accessibility, the overall service experience appears to be inconsistent based on customer reviews.

Service Options and Delivery

The pharmacy offers various service options, including prescription dispensing and consultations. In some cases, patients have reported quick turnaround times for their prescriptions, noting waits of just a few minutes. However, others have encountered delays exceeding an hour, leaving them frustrated with the lack of communication from the staff.

Payment Methods

Rowlands Pharmacy accepts multiple forms of payment, including debit cards and credit cards. Additionally, NFC mobile payments are available for those looking for a contactless transaction option. This flexibility in payments is appreciated by many, although it does not seem to compensate for the poor service experienced by others.

Customer Service Experiences

Customer experiences at Rowlands Pharmacy vary significantly. While some individuals commend the staff for their friendliness and willingness to help, others have encountered rude and judgmental behavior. Instances of perceived discrimination and a lack of confidentiality have also been reported, raising serious concerns about the pharmacy's approach to customer care. One customer noted, "When I am standing behind the partition, I generally don't wish to announce my health concerns to everyone waiting." Such comments highlight the need for improved communication and sensitivity among the pharmacy staff.

Conclusion

While Rowlands Pharmacy on Edinburgh Road offers essential services and amenities such as accessibility and various payment options, it faces challenges in delivering consistent and respectful customer service. Prospective customers may want to weigh these factors before deciding to visit.

Excellent service, no crowds, and minimal waiting time.
Scott Jackson (23/06/2025, 16:58):
Certainly, I believe that improving the level of personnel in the pharmacy would be beneficial. It is important to ensure that there are enough staff members available to provide efficient and high-quality service to our customers.
Alan Barnes (17/06/2025, 18:10):
Take a gander at the way the staff handle medication in prisons, with hundreds of people lined up and getting served in about ten minutes, all correctly identified. There's no fancy footwork, just good old-fashioned hard work. I witnessed about ten older folks waiting outside the place for at least half an hour, while the average time for each person to be seen is around ten minutes, with only three staff members on duty. When I saw this, I felt compelled to assess the situation. It's astonishing how someone can be so blatantly incompetent at their job, yet due to unjust dismissal laws, they can continue to maintain this level of ineffectiveness for so long. In any other private sector setting, this kind of performance wouldn't fly, you wouldn't last a day in any industry that isn't propped up by endless public funds. That's why they take their sweet time to see you, knowing that the taxpayer is footing the bill. You're just a cash cow to them. Your health concerns are of little consequence.
Anna Alexander (15/06/2025, 21:51):
Outstanding service assistance every time
Gerald Jones (14/06/2025, 03:30):
The staff seem more interested in chatting amongst themselves than assisting customers, it's quite disappointing really.
Harold Gutierrez (11/06/2025, 21:29):
Decent but a tad sluggish, mate.
Amy Simmons (10/06/2025, 14:52):
I walked in and requested my prescription, and it only took about 3 minutes to receive it, which is much quicker than usual. Usually, I have to wait much longer for it.
Timothy Hall (22/05/2025, 13:42):
The recently appointed head pharmacist has displayed behavior that is deeply concerning. It takes an excessive 40 minutes to print and affix a label onto a green bag, which is simply inefficiency at its peak. I would recommend considering a career change as your interpersonal skills are lacking, and your discriminatory attitude is completely unacceptable.
Patrick Gray (19/05/2025, 00:49):
Outstanding service, truly helpful.
Riley Nelson (16/05/2025, 23:51):
I rang up this pharmacy and was informed that they couldn't source my wife's medication from their suppliers. When I inquired if the medication was on the backorder list, I was simply told to take my business elsewhere if I wasn't satisfied. I was shocked when they then accused us of being abusive and promptly banned us, despite the fact that we are both elderly patients aged 77 and 75.
Dylan Martinez (15/05/2025, 17:59):
Absolutely gobsmacked! The staff at this pharmacy are terribly rude, with a haughty attitude and a belief that customers can read minds. Expect to wait for over an hour without any explanation, and don't even think about asking - it's as if you've insulted them. If you dare to complain and return to pick up a prescription, be prepared to find a handwritten note informing you that you are banned from the pharmacy.

Both my partner and I have endured this appalling level of service.
George Hamilton (14/05/2025, 23:25):
Came in to pick up my prescription and can't fault them at all. Always so welcoming and never any problems. Can't really ask for more, really pleased with the service.
