Exploring Tesco Superstore: Your Local Edinburgh Grocery Destination

Tesco Superstore, located conveniently in Edinburgh, is a popular choice for both locals and visitors looking for a comprehensive shopping experience. With its diverse range of offerings, it caters to various customer needs from groceries to on-site services.

In-Store Shopping Experience

Many customers have shared their experiences, highlighting both the pros and cons of shopping at this location. While the in-store shopping atmosphere can be vibrant, it's not without its challenges. Frequent complaints about empty shelves and stock issues have been noted. One shopper remarked, "I have been shopping here since May 2017... whenever I push my trolley around the store, the gaps in the product range on the shelves are noticeable." Despite these setbacks, Tesco Superstore boasts great produce, a variety of food options, and essential items ranging from fresh fruits to household goods. Notably, customers appreciate the availability of NFC mobile payments and credit cards, making transactions quick and efficient.

Accessibility and Services

Accessibility features are a significant aspect of Tesco Superstore. It provides a wheelchair-accessible entrance, seating, and ample parking facilities including a free parking lot and a dedicated wheelchair-accessible car park. The store is also equipped with an on-site pharmacy, ensuring that customers can fulfill various needs in one stop. Moreover, the supermarket is recognized as a transgender safe space and LGBTQ+ friendly, creating an inclusive environment for all shoppers.

Highlighting Customer Feedback

Customer feedback has been mixed regarding the overall service. Many appreciate the friendly staff, stating, "Super friendly staff and the shop is always well stocked." However, several reviews pointed out issues such as long waits at checkout and poor handling of customer inquiries. A visitor mentioned feeling "mortified" after finding a foreign object in their purchase, expressing dissatisfaction with the response from customer service. Customers have noted the convenience of the click and collect option, alongside in-store pick-up services which cater to those who prefer a quick visit. One patron remarked, “I only went to this store because I had a Click and Collect to pick up. The staff are very friendly and helpful.”

Other Amenities

In addition to groceries, Tesco Superstore houses various on-site services including a Costa Coffee shop and Timpson for dry cleaning and shoe repairs. This adds a layer of convenience for those looking to accomplish multiple errands in one trip. Moreover, sustainability efforts such as recycling initiatives and the option to bring your own plastic bags are commendable. Customers frequently appreciate these efforts, especially in today’s environmentally conscious shopping landscape.

Final Thoughts

Overall, while Tesco Superstore in Edinburgh may face some operational hurdles, it remains a vital shopping hub offering a wide range of products and services. Its commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, combined with various payment options and convenient amenities, solidifies its place as a go-to destination for residents and visitors alike. It's a quaint little supermarket. They usually stock everything I need, although it doesn't quite compare to the Waitrose in Stockbridge or a massive Tesco out of town.

Nevertheless, its prime location next to the bike path makes it incredibly convenient for those without a vehicle.
Melissa Bailey (03/07/2025, 19:15):
The staff is top-notch, incredibly friendly and helpful. They offer decent discounts on high-end items, although they could have more in general. Definitely deserving of a 5-star rating.
Betty Thompson (02/07/2025, 23:19):
A quaint Tesco located in the heart of town that always sees a steady flow of customers (yet the checkout lines are efficiently managed and never pose an issue). Impressive variety of products considering the compact size of the store.
Judith Perry (30/06/2025, 20:37):
They've got some brilliant bits for vegans, such as non-dairy cheese and ice cream.
Wayne Nelson (30/06/2025, 16:17):
At Tesco, you can find everything under one roof. While the prices may not always be the cheapest compared to other stores, the quality is superior.
Joe Nguyen (29/06/2025, 18:23):
This massive supermarket offers a plethora of conveniences such as a cozy coffee corner, efficient dry cleaning services, and a fully stocked pharmacy. Impressive variety of vegetarian options available as well.
Susan Brown (27/06/2025, 16:04):
She was speaking poorly to us.
Steven Patterson (23/06/2025, 22:03):
I've been coming here since 1994 when it changed from WM Lows. The staff is just lovely and over the years, I've really got to know them well. If they don't have what you want, they'll do their best to get it for you or point you in the right direction. It's shopping locally with local folks. That sense of being part of a community that embraces everyone, no matter their situation, truly sets it apart - a local shop for local residents. What more could any of us wish for?
Layla Sullivan (18/06/2025, 13:22):
A fine establishment, with a staff that is quite pleasant and the aisles are always tidy. Any minor hiccups are swiftly taken care of without hassle. Occasionally, there may be a shortage of items on the shelves, but one can usually find suitable substitutes so no room for grumbling.
Susan Powell (17/06/2025, 11:24):
The team here is absolutely brilliant, always so cheerful and ready to lend a hand. This little gem is my go-to spot, and it truly stocks everything imaginable... they even have Christmas trees!
Christopher Ortiz (13/06/2025, 20:24):
I used to be quite fond of this store, but over the past year, it has certainly seen better days. It seems like every single day they have a number of checkout lanes closed. More often than not, at least half of the checkouts are shut, leading to long queues and frustration amongst customers. I can't determine if they intentionally close them or if they just can't seem to fix the issue after a whole year, but it's truly disappointing.
Louis Collins (13/06/2025, 05:51):
Our neighborhood supermarket is handily situated just off the cycle path and offers some sheltered bike parking. Yet, it is frequently at capacity. The majority of products appear to be in stock most of the time. The prices and quality are acceptable. We tend to prefer a visit to Lidl nearby, where the produce is typically fresher, the bakery items are superior, and the prices are more affordable, creating a more enjoyable and less crowded experience. Nonetheless, Tesco boasts a broader selection and availability of products.
Ethan Kim (12/06/2025, 17:24):
Fantastic store, you can find nearly everything you're looking for here.
Grace Cooper (12/06/2025, 03:08):
A bit on the pricey side in comparison to the Lidl just down the road, I must say.
Gary Graham (11/06/2025, 02:36):
Being an English gentleman, I must admit I was a tad concerned that the groceries would be labeled in Scottish Gaelic. To my relief, they were all in good ol' English, indicating Scotland's warm embrace of tourism. Cheers to that!
Leonard Williams (10/06/2025, 20:42):
It's a Tesco. Better than most, but still a Tesco.

Absolutely dreadful bike parking.
Angela Kim (09/06/2025, 14:33):
I must say, was quite impressed with the sheer size of the supermarket. However, encountered a few hiccups with the self-checkout machines.
Michelle Rodriguez (01/06/2025, 10:55):
It's a Tesco, not much else to say really, except they've got a Costa in there if you fancy a cheeky coffee while you're doing your shop.
Ronald Martin (01/06/2025, 04:13):
This store is absolutely brilliant! They have a huge selection of fresh food at very reasonable prices. The only downside is that they don't stock chilled alcohol. They have self-scanning available, a spacious parking lot, and even a pharmacy and Costa Coffee inside. It's wheelchair-friendly and the staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming. I was pleasantly surprised to find short lines at the checkout.
Victoria Reynolds (27/05/2025, 20:04):
The staff were really friendly and helpful. This supermarket has a local vibe that makes me feel right at home.
