Exploring Tesco Superstore: Your Local Edinburgh Grocery Destination

Tesco Superstore, located conveniently in Edinburgh, is a popular choice for both locals and visitors looking for a comprehensive shopping experience. With its diverse range of offerings, it caters to various customer needs from groceries to on-site services.

In-Store Shopping Experience

Many customers have shared their experiences, highlighting both the pros and cons of shopping at this location. While the in-store shopping atmosphere can be vibrant, it's not without its challenges. Frequent complaints about empty shelves and stock issues have been noted. One shopper remarked, "I have been shopping here since May 2017... whenever I push my trolley around the store, the gaps in the product range on the shelves are noticeable." Despite these setbacks, Tesco Superstore boasts great produce, a variety of food options, and essential items ranging from fresh fruits to household goods. Notably, customers appreciate the availability of NFC mobile payments and credit cards, making transactions quick and efficient.

Accessibility and Services

Accessibility features are a significant aspect of Tesco Superstore. It provides a wheelchair-accessible entrance, seating, and ample parking facilities including a free parking lot and a dedicated wheelchair-accessible car park. The store is also equipped with an on-site pharmacy, ensuring that customers can fulfill various needs in one stop. Moreover, the supermarket is recognized as a transgender safe space and LGBTQ+ friendly, creating an inclusive environment for all shoppers.

Highlighting Customer Feedback

Customer feedback has been mixed regarding the overall service. Many appreciate the friendly staff, stating, "Super friendly staff and the shop is always well stocked." However, several reviews pointed out issues such as long waits at checkout and poor handling of customer inquiries. A visitor mentioned feeling "mortified" after finding a foreign object in their purchase, expressing dissatisfaction with the response from customer service. Customers have noted the convenience of the click and collect option, alongside in-store pick-up services which cater to those who prefer a quick visit. One patron remarked, “I only went to this store because I had a Click and Collect to pick up. The staff are very friendly and helpful.”

Other Amenities

In addition to groceries, Tesco Superstore houses various on-site services including a Costa Coffee shop and Timpson for dry cleaning and shoe repairs. This adds a layer of convenience for those looking to accomplish multiple errands in one trip. Moreover, sustainability efforts such as recycling initiatives and the option to bring your own plastic bags are commendable. Customers frequently appreciate these efforts, especially in today’s environmentally conscious shopping landscape.

Final Thoughts

Overall, while Tesco Superstore in Edinburgh may face some operational hurdles, it remains a vital shopping hub offering a wide range of products and services. Its commitment to accessibility and inclusivity, combined with various payment options and convenient amenities, solidifies its place as a go-to destination for residents and visitors alike. Appalled. Absolutely gutted. Unbelievable.

I've always had a soft spot for shopping at this Tesco location and it's been my go-to chain grocery store. However, today I bought some coronation chicken spread from there and, lo and behold, I discovered a human nail nestled within this beloved product. After reaching out to TESCO customer service, I was informed that my only recourse was to return the opened product for a refund or reach out to their WhatsApp line, which only responded with automated messages. It's all just so appalling and the lack of care for the customer is truly disheartening. Photos of the product and the offending human nail are included for reference.

"It's not too bad, to be honest, but the selection of products is a bit limited considering the size of the store..."
Ava Sanders (16/08/2025, 22:54):
Well, let me tell you about my experience at the supermarket, it was quite frustrating! My girlfriend and I tried to purchase a couple of beers, but we were denied because they claimed there was a friend outside without ID. We tried to explain that we were regular customers and didn't associate with others, but they stood their ground. Upon exiting, we found no one outside - they fabricated the whole story simply because we are outsiders. Needless to say, we won't be returning there again.

I found myself in the Tesco store on Broughton Road around 4pm on the 12th of July. I do regret not asking for the name of the young lady who was working at the checkout. My intention was to just grab a few items, but as always, I ended up with more than planned. Unbeknownst to her, I am currently recovering from a significant surgery and should not be lifting heavy bags. She kindly offered to place my shopping in the trolley without any prompting from me. It may seem like a small gesture, but it meant a great deal to me. I wish I had asked for her name so that she could receive the recognition she deserves for her kindness and excellent customer service. 👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼😊

There was no indication of the new height restriction until it was too late. Cheers.

And cheers for taking down my earlier review on this issue.
Emily Sanders (12/08/2025, 01:17):
Always lovely and speedy service with top-notch products.
Betty Harris (09/08/2025, 18:02):
Extremely helpful and friendly staff, I must say. Top-notch service all around at Supermarket!
Deborah Harris (09/08/2025, 13:50):
Lovely little shop. Staff are always friendly and ready to help. Wide selection of products available. Plus, they have a Pharmacy, Timpson, and Travel Agency all under one roof. Great find!
Sharon Jenkins (08/08/2025, 15:54):
Great supermarket, perfectly situated, spotless and organized, and the staff is really friendly.
James Morris (03/08/2025, 05:19):
Wonderful place to do the shopping. I only visited this grocer because I had a Click and Collect order to collect. The team is incredibly friendly and accommodating. I shall certainly be returning to shop at this establishment.
Stephanie Hamilton (02/08/2025, 01:45):
I am quite displeased with a particular staff member at this establishment who exhibited extremely rude behavior towards an older lady whose mask had torn. I found it unnecessary and wholly disrespectful. I expressed my thoughts on the matter and have made the decision not to patronize this store again!
Paul Green (01/08/2025, 18:59):
I've been frequenting this supermarket for quite a few years now. It's always been my go-to spot for groceries, and I find myself stopping by almost every other day, if not daily. Parking can be a bit of a hassle unless you time it right and avoid the folks who treat it like their personal parking lot. You see the same cars parked there Monday to Friday, so that three-hour limit is a bit of a joke. As for the store itself, during peak hours, there seem to be more stock carts cluttering the aisles than actual shopping carts. The most I've seen in one aisle was seven - hardly any room for customers to navigate around. It becomes even more frustrating when the staff are too preoccupied with restocking shelves to pay attention to customers trying to get by.

They have this habit of constantly rearranging items throughout the store. I'm here to shop, not play hide and seek, so it can be quite a challenge to find what I need when they've been moved. After finally locating everything on my list, paying for my purchases, and heading out, I was accosted by a security guard outside who was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Despite filing a complaint, all I received was a half-hearted apology from one of the managers - not exactly a customer service win.

I've also noticed that prices keep creeping higher and higher. If you're shopping for pets like cats or dogs, the selection is disappointingly small and tucked away in a tiny corner. New items come in only to disappear after a few weeks. And don't get me started on the exit to Tesco - it can turn into a waiting game, especially during peak hours. The traffic lights seem to only let three cars out before switching back to red. So, there you have it - plenty of room for improvement.
Samuel Graham (01/08/2025, 15:27):
Beware of the price discrepancies on their club card items. There have been instances where products marked with a club card discount did not reflect the correct price at checkout. Failure to notice this can result in you falling victim to their misleading practices.

I experienced this issue twice and only noticed it when checking my receipt. The first time, the manager was understanding and honored the club card price. However, the second time, line manager Rob accused me of deceit.

If you attempt to address this issue with line manager Rob, be prepared for humiliation and accusations of dishonesty. Reporting the matter to store manager Catherine will likely result in your concerns being dismissed without any effort to investigate the situation through CCTV footage.
Danielle Graham (31/07/2025, 21:36):
Based on today's experience, the individual aiding the self-service checkout did not approach me when signaled for assistance, despite being right next to my register. I understand that they may have been having a rough day, but as a fellow keyworker, I ask for support for your team members. I've been patronizing this store for over 20 years, and I must say that I believe the management of this store is lacking due to the attitudes of the staff. My previous complaint to Tesco regarding another staff member was not addressed, and I never received any follow-up.
Christopher Collins (30/07/2025, 18:35):
Effortless parking, friendly staff at the customer service desk when I needed to return an item.
Frank Gray (28/07/2025, 11:58):
Arrived at the store early one morning, just 15 minutes after they opened, and found that several sections were still covered and not accessible. Additionally, there was no staff at the registers - I had to inquire about it. Although the store isn't terrible, it should be fully operational and customer-friendly from the minute they open until they close.
Evelyn Henderson (25/07/2025, 13:40):
A fully stocked market in a handy location.
Jesse Wright (20/07/2025, 01:26):
Tesco is a great spot for all your food shopping needs, with a decently sized car park and even a cafe to grab a bite. Plus, they've got handy amenities like bottle recycling, Timpsons services, a pharmacy, and an ATM right on site. Perfect for a one-stop shop!
Alexander Sullivan (19/07/2025, 19:49):
This place is a top-notch supermarket. I always manage to find everything I'm looking for here. The store is well-kept, the produce is always fresh, and I appreciate that they don't constantly rearrange the aisles.
Danielle Hill (18/07/2025, 08:14):
The quality of the products at Supermarket is rather lacking, especially with their fruit and vegetables being quite pricey compared to other grocery stores. However, they do offer a wide selection of items in most categories.
