Discovering Morrisons in Livingston: A Comprehensive Review

Morrisons in Livingston is more than just a supermarket; it's a community hub that caters to a diverse range of shoppers. With its wheelchair-accessible entrance and amenities, this store strives to provide an inclusive shopping experience for everyone.

Accessibility Features

The supermarket prides itself on accessibility, offering a wheelchair-accessible car park and toilets. Shoppers can feel reassured knowing there's a wheelchair-accessible toilet available for their convenience. However, some customers have highlighted issues with staff availability in certain parts of the store, particularly in areas like the cafe and petrol station.

Shopping Experience

Many shoppers rave about the great produce available at Morrisons, from fresh fruits and vegetables to quality meats at the butchery. The spacious aisles allow for easy navigation, ensuring a pleasant shopping experience, especially during peak hours when the crowd can be overwhelming. Despite these positives, a few customers have expressed dissatisfaction with long wait times at checkout or for in-store services, noting instances where cashiers seemed rushed.

Cafe and Service Options

The Morrisons cafe offers a variety of meals, but customer experiences vary greatly. While some patrons enjoy their meals and appreciate the friendly service, others report extended wait times and issues with food quality. For instance, a customer mentioned a 45-minute wait for a breakfast that arrived cold, highlighting inconsistent service. The cafe environment could improve as well; while it serves as a gathering spot, cleanliness and timely service have been points of contention among visitors.

Payment Methods and Offers

Morrisons accepts various payment methods including debit cards, credit cards, and NFC mobile payments, making transactions quick and easy. Regular offers and promotions are frequent, catering to budget-conscious shoppers. However, some customers have voiced concerns about discrepancies between in-store prices and sales advertised online.

Environment and Community Initiatives

An often-discussed aspect of Morrisons is its commitment to the environment, with various recycling options available in-store, such as for batteries and plastic bags. Additionally, the supermarket has been noted for being LGBTQ+ friendly, aiming to create a welcoming atmosphere for all customers.

Conclusion: Highlights and Areas for Improvement

While Morrisons in Livingston boasts a fantastic selection of products, amenities, and generally friendly staff, there are clear areas that require attention. Improved staffing levels, particularly in the cafe and service points, could enhance the overall shopping experience. Customers appreciate the thoughtfulness of some staff members who go above and beyond, yet consistent service is crucial for maintaining customer loyalty. In summary, Morrisons remains a favorite for many due to its vast range of offerings and community spirit. Continuous feedback from customers can help shape an even better shopping experience for everyone who walks through its doors.

The store had an incredible array of items to choose from! It was such a spacious and well-stocked establishment that I found myself discovering products I didn't even realize I needed. Additionally, I especially appreciated the option of purchasing more affordable "wonky" fruits and vegetables. The staff members were extremely helpful, and the store itself was impeccably clean and well-maintained.
Benjamin Peterson (28/07/2025, 02:47):
I must say, I had a jolly good time at the Supermarket! The selection was top-notch, with plenty of bargains to be had. The prices were quite reasonable, given the current situation. The staff were simply excellent, helping me find everything I needed. All in all, a splendid shopping experience with great deals and very helpful staff.
Jean Myers (26/07/2025, 22:28):
I found myself waiting at the fish counter for a good 20 minutes, with no staff in sight. After eventually returning and waiting an additional 10 minutes, the individual behind the counter seemed more preoccupied with marking down items than attending to customers. It’s no surprise everything needs to be reduced when the staff are nowhere to be found for service. And even when they are present, they can't seem to glance up from their tasks to assist those waiting at the front of the counter.

Just wanted to give a massive shoutout to Karen over at the Takeaway Coffee counter in Morrison's Livingston. She was incredibly helpful this morning, not only to me when I was in a rush, but also to a lovely older lady who needed some cutlery to stir her tea.
The shortage of cutlery, even just stirrers, in the cafe can be quite frustrating, especially with the current situation requiring extra caution. But Karen really went above and beyond - what a star!

The petrol station is an absolute shame... Two times already I've attempted to seek assistance (I'm a wheelchair user) and both times they have been nowhere to be found.

Stock levels could be improved, with only a limited amount available. Prices are generally reasonable. While there are some good deals, it's worth noting that discounts often require purchasing multiple items. This tactic of encouraging customers to buy more than necessary can be frustrating and doesn't truly benefit those looking to purchase in bulk. It may lead to wastefulness and overlooks the needs of smaller households. A helpful suggestion for those shopping at Morrison's is to explore their Wonky produce range, which offers quality items without the need for bulk purchases.
Stephanie Jordan (19/07/2025, 20:05):
Straightforward layout, tidy and spacious store with welcoming employees. While there is room for improvement in the pricing of everyday groceries, the flowers and plants are fantastic both in terms of cost and quality.
Kevin Stewart (19/07/2025, 14:44):
I appreciate the amiable staff, especially the older gentleman who brought us our food, very pleasant indeed. However, I must say waiting for 1 hour and 20 minutes is unacceptable. It's important to investigate why there are such long delays in getting the food out.

It wasn't just my daughter and me; we overheard other tables expressing their dissatisfaction with the wait for something as simple as toast. This seems more like a management issue with the kitchen staff.

Furthermore, some of the staff were only partially wearing masks, leaving their noses uncovered, and some had masks with round necks, which does not provide adequate protection. I also observed staff frequently touching their masks without washing their hands or using hand sanitizer afterwards.

I popped into the supermarket cafe for a spot of brekkie, and despite being the only one at the counter ready to place my order, I found myself waiting a good 10-15 minutes before being served. It took nearly another half hour before my food arrived at the table. Service was absolutely dire, but gotta give credit where it's due - the breakfast itself was quite scrummy.
Jean Kim (16/07/2025, 00:26):
I popped into Morrison's on Sunday, the 9th of April. It seemed like the shop manager was on a mission to save energy - the store felt chilly and only half of the lights were on. The cashier even mentioned how cold they were feeling. Not a great experience, to be honest.
Catherine Williams (15/07/2025, 18:21):
This store is absolutely brilliant! They have a fantastic range of various foods, products, clothing, and appliances.
Eugene Foster (13/07/2025, 18:49):
The staff are ever so friendly and always willing to lend a hand. The bakery here is simply delightful. The sanitising stations are always stocked up and ready to use. My only little annoyance would be that sometimes you have to go on a bit of a hunt for a basket.
Elizabeth Hall (12/07/2025, 22:25):
I must say, on the last two occasions, a security guard trailed me all around the place. I grasp that it falls within his duties and perhaps my appearance is a bit rugged, but I can't say I particularly enjoyed the experience. C'est la vie, I suppose... No hard feelings, but there does seem to be a slight issue there.
Aaron Scott (11/07/2025, 23:18):
At the petrol station, I had a frustrating experience as my card wouldn't work in their machine (even though there was enough money in the account). The attendant insisted that I leave my mobile phone as collateral! This left me in a vulnerable position as I had no way to contact anyone in case I broke down on my way home to get cash. This behavior is simply unacceptable, especially when all they needed was my car registration number.
Deborah Allen (09/07/2025, 21:03):
Lacking in local or Scottish products. Insufficient number of registers open, too many self-service machines.
Mia Fisher (07/07/2025, 00:36):
I absolutely adore popping down to Morrisons, but was rather let down by their outdoor plants selection. They all appeared quite neglected, however I did end up purchasing a six-pack of bedding plants, the most promising from a less-than-stellar bunch. Alas, upon transferring them to pots, they seemed to disintegrate from the soil, making planting quite a challenge and resulting in a rather lifeless appearance. I managed to pot one of them in a larger container, though I hold little hope for their survival. Hoping that Morrisons can address this issue and give their plants the care and attention they deserve.
Jerry Ortiz (06/07/2025, 15:24):
Spent a good 15 minutes waiting at the butchery counter. No staff in sight. Finally found someone who promised to make an announcement. Waited another 10 minutes. Still no sign of help. No signs or updates provided. Disappointing service overall.

The cashier mentioned they have one person managing both meat and fish counters, which are located at opposite ends of the store. Not the best customer service experience. I think I'll stick to Aldi and Asda for my shopping from now on.
Andrew Green (04/07/2025, 03:05):
Absolutely outstanding service today, going the extra mile in a way that truly exceeded any supermarket expectations. They went out of their way to prepare a custom strawberry and cream cake for my brother-in-law, who is battling with dementia but had his heart set on that particular treat for his birthday. They not only fulfilled my request but surpassed it. He was over the moon. A huge thank you to all the wonderful staff at the Livingston store who were involved.
Teresa Jackson (02/07/2025, 07:19):
There weren't many people in the aisles, so I had plenty of space to move around. I approached a staff member to ask where I could find the items I was looking for, and they were courteous, friendly, and very helpful. Following their instructions, I easily found the items I needed. The checkout counters were clean and well-maintained. This visit, the store was well-stocked with groceries and there weren't many customers around.
Julia Bailey (30/06/2025, 21:58):
Went to the Morrisons store to pick up some bread and decided to also browse through the crisps section before making my purchase. After checking out, a Morrisons employee asked to see inside my bag to verify my items. I was taken aback as I had only bought bread. The employee insisted on checking, suspecting me of shoplifting as I also had a bag from B&M.

I showed him the contents of my bag and made it clear that I did not appreciate being treated in such a manner. I warned him that I would involve the police if this situation occurred again. Is this how Morrisons typically handles their customers, assuming everyone is stealing? I felt unjustly targeted and it made my shopping experience unpleasant.

I am a frequent shopper at Morrisons, but after this incident, I am considering exploring other options. It's important to be treated with respect as a customer, and I will not tolerate being accused of theft.
