Sarah Young (07/07/2025, 16:10):
Hello there. I must say, after visiting this supermarket, I was quite disappointed with the level of customer service provided. The employees seemed rather lackadaisical and uninterested in assisting customers, almost as if they thought themselves to be above their duties. Their interactions were quite dull and uninspiring, lacking any enthusiasm or warmth. It almost felt like they preferred remaining hidden in the warehouse rather than actively engaging with customers and offering assistance. All in all, my experience left much to be desired, hence the one-star rating.
Larry Rogers (06/07/2025, 12:20):
The staff at the supermarket are always so kind and make sure I can find everything I need. ❤️

Dear Supermarket team,

I visited your store last Wednesday in hopes of entering early as NHS workers, like we had been able to do two weeks prior. However, this time around, I found myself waiting in line from 7:25 AM only to discover that the exclusive access for NHS workers was from 8-9 AM. As a 65-year-old who only goes shopping once a week due to my husband's onset dementia, it is crucial for me to plan my visits accurately.

I kindly request that you provide clear and accurate information regarding entry times for different groups to avoid any confusion or inconvenience. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Best regards,
[Your Name]

Great spot for picking up groceries conveniently for the locals.

However...
A couple of weeks back, around 9:30 in the morning, I popped into the café for a cup of coffee and a sausage roll. To my surprise, the sausages turned out to be vegetarian Korn links instead of the Lorne sausage I had been craving! They looked and tasted like cheap cigars, incredibly dry. I attempted to eat them with the roll, but quickly gave up in disappointment. Additionally, when I requested a decaf coffee, I received a small packet that I had to mix with water and milk myself. I had envisioned a delicious frothy latte, but it seems they don't offer decaf options in that style. Despite spending over £5, I was too disheartened to ask for a replacement, so I just left. It's a shame, as I've visited a few times before without any issues.
Evelyn Hughes (04/07/2025, 14:41):
The staff are absolutely lovely and so accommodating! The only issue I have is the constant disarray in the store. There are bits of cardboard scattered all over the floor that can be quite hazardous, especially considering my mum's disability. It's a concern that she might accidentally slip on something.
Justin Johnson (03/07/2025, 10:46):
Fantastic store, has just about everything you need in a grocery store. The majority of the staff are friendly and ready to assist.
Douglas Lopez (02/07/2025, 20:09):
A massive thank you to Louise and the team for assisting me when I accidentally cut myself on a glass vase at the store today. They were all so kind and helpful.
Mark Wright (02/07/2025, 10:22):
I can find all I need in one store and the prices are quite fair.
Stephanie Brooks (02/07/2025, 09:56):
The store is quite good and convenient, but the attitude and customer service of the staff are an absolute disgrace, shockingly bad. There are far too many of them with such poor manners. I have numerous horror stories to share, but it's a bit too much to type out. Just know that the employees there are generally despicable, the lowest of the low.
Roger Allen (02/07/2025, 02:17):
I found everything I needed at the grocery store. The ready-made cake caught my eye and I couldn't resist purchasing it.
Mia Bennett (01/07/2025, 09:40):
I visited the Asda store in Motherwell recently and I must say, I was quite disappointed. The staff seem to bring their personal lives to work and the managers don't seem to mind. There is a noticeable lack of competition in the town which results in not enough stock being available. And don't get me started on their special offers - when something is on offer, they tend to keep it in the stock room rather than on the shelf!

If you're a smoker, my top tip would be to go to the nearest corner shop for cigarettes. Asda seems to be much more expensive than other places because they don't use price marked stock.
Angela Reyes (27/06/2025, 16:36):
I must say, I don't usually like to complain, but I felt compelled to share my experience today. I stopped by the supermarket around lunchtime to pick up some essentials for a friend that I could only find at Asda, after struggling to locate them elsewhere. I decided to use their Scan and Go Service to speed up my shopping, but when I reached the scanner checkout to pay, I was selected for an enquiry check.

There were three female staff members at the self-service area, just about eight feet away from me, who seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than assisting me with my check, which required their direct intervention. I greeted one of the women and made eye contact to signal that I needed help, but she ignored me and continued her conversation. It was quite rude and showed a lack of basic customer service. I probably would have been quicker going through the traditional cashier line.

I didn't feel like a valued customer at all and found the self-service colleagues to be unhelpful. It was frustrating to be ignored and have to wait longer, especially since I was the only customer using a scanner at that time. I wouldn't recommend using Scan and Go if you're in a hurry, which defeats the purpose of the technology. After the ladies finished their chat, an older lady left the group to come and scan my handset so I could pay, realizing that I was there to spend money that contributes to her wages.

I understand that it was a Sunday, with generally more relaxed service and fewer staff than on weekdays, but I certainly didn't feel relaxed or valued as a customer. I don't typically shop at this store, and after this experience, I'll think twice before returning to this branch.
Kevin Lewis (27/06/2025, 15:02):
Just popped in for a few bits but ended up leaving with more than I bargained for. Turned out to be a blessing though, as the quality and pricing were top-notch. Cheers to that!
Sandra Parker (23/06/2025, 21:13):
I shan't be returning, they're either doing away with checkout operators or only having two. Absolutely dreadful.
Catherine Reed (20/06/2025, 21:26):
I must say, the shopping baskets were quite filthy. While a few of the employees appear to be making an effort to ensure customer safety, it is clear that most are not concerned about your well-being. This has to be the worst supermarket I have visited since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Bradley Brooks (19/06/2025, 22:59):
The drivers at Asda are always so friendly and helpful. The substitutions they offer are quite sensible, and I am absolutely pleased with my experiences shopping there.
Harper Graham (16/06/2025, 08:06):
Reasonable items up for grabs.
Sometimes, products get mistakenly placed under incorrect price labels.
I wound up purchasing a set of headphones and had to fork out double the price listed.
Ava Adams (14/06/2025, 21:28):
I am very concerned about the lack of safety measures being taken by the staff at the pizza stall. It is extremely concerning to see them preparing food without wearing any protective gear, such as masks. This not only puts their own health at risk but also the health of the customers who will be consuming the food. It is essential that all food preparation areas adhere to strict hygiene and safety protocols to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria. I hope that the management of the supermarket takes immediate action to address this issue and ensure that the staff are properly protected while handling food.
Sarah Davis (13/06/2025, 15:56):
Very conveniently located in the heart of Motherwell with plenty of free parking available, although prices can be a tad high. Nevertheless, it's a lovely spot for your shopping needs.
Abigail Cooper (12/06/2025, 19:32):
Amidst this pandemic, the team at Asda Motherwell has been absolutely brilliant! They've been so courteous, polite, and incredibly helpful 😀 I've always been a fan of this store and shopped here often, but my recent visit has truly solidified my appreciation for the entire team 😀 ...
