I can find all I need in one store and the prices are quite fair.
Stephanie Brooks (02/07/2025, 09:56):
The store is quite good and convenient, but the attitude and customer service of the staff are an absolute disgrace, shockingly bad. There are far too many of them with such poor manners. I have numerous horror stories to share, but it's a bit too much to type out. Just know that the employees there are generally despicable, the lowest of the low.
Roger Allen (02/07/2025, 02:17):
I found everything I needed at the grocery store. The ready-made cake caught my eye and I couldn't resist purchasing it.
Mia Bennett (01/07/2025, 09:40):
I visited the Asda store in Motherwell recently and I must say, I was quite disappointed. The staff seem to bring their personal lives to work and the managers don't seem to mind. There is a noticeable lack of competition in the town which results in not enough stock being available. And don't get me started on their special offers - when something is on offer, they tend to keep it in the stock room rather than on the shelf!

If you're a smoker, my top tip would be to go to the nearest corner shop for cigarettes. Asda seems to be much more expensive than other places because they don't use price marked stock.

I must say, I don't usually like to complain, but I felt compelled to share my experience today. I stopped by the supermarket around lunchtime to pick up some essentials for a friend that I could only find at Asda, after struggling to locate them elsewhere. I decided to use their Scan and Go Service to speed up my shopping, but when I reached the scanner checkout to pay, I was selected for an enquiry check.

There were three female staff members at the self-service area, just about eight feet away from me, who seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than assisting me with my check, which required their direct intervention. I greeted one of the women and made eye contact to signal that I needed help, but she ignored me and continued her conversation. It was quite rude and showed a lack of basic customer service. I probably would have been quicker going through the traditional cashier line.

I didn't feel like a valued customer at all and found the self-service colleagues to be unhelpful. It was frustrating to be ignored and have to wait longer, especially since I was the only customer using a scanner at that time. I wouldn't recommend using Scan and Go if you're in a hurry, which defeats the purpose of the technology. After the ladies finished their chat, an older lady left the group to come and scan my handset so I could pay, realizing that I was there to spend money that contributes to her wages.

I understand that it was a Sunday, with generally more relaxed service and fewer staff than on weekdays, but I certainly didn't feel relaxed or valued as a customer. I don't typically shop at this store, and after this experience, I'll think twice before returning to this branch.
Kevin Lewis (27/06/2025, 15:02):
Just popped in for a few bits but ended up leaving with more than I bargained for. Turned out to be a blessing though, as the quality and pricing were top-notch. Cheers to that!
Sandra Parker (23/06/2025, 21:13):
I shan't be returning, they're either doing away with checkout operators or only having two. Absolutely dreadful.
Catherine Reed (20/06/2025, 21:26):
I must say, the shopping baskets were quite filthy. While a few of the employees appear to be making an effort to ensure customer safety, it is clear that most are not concerned about your well-being. This has to be the worst supermarket I have visited since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Bradley Brooks (19/06/2025, 22:59):
The drivers at Asda are always so friendly and helpful. The substitutions they offer are quite sensible, and I am absolutely pleased with my experiences shopping there.
Harper Graham (16/06/2025, 08:06):
Reasonable items up for grabs.
Sometimes, products get mistakenly placed under incorrect price labels.
I wound up purchasing a set of headphones and had to fork out double the price listed.
Ava Adams (14/06/2025, 21:28):
I am very concerned about the lack of safety measures being taken by the staff at the pizza stall. It is extremely concerning to see them preparing food without wearing any protective gear, such as masks. This not only puts their own health at risk but also the health of the customers who will be consuming the food. It is essential that all food preparation areas adhere to strict hygiene and safety protocols to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria. I hope that the management of the supermarket takes immediate action to address this issue and ensure that the staff are properly protected while handling food.
Sarah Davis (13/06/2025, 15:56):
Very conveniently located in the heart of Motherwell with plenty of free parking available, although prices can be a tad high. Nevertheless, it's a lovely spot for your shopping needs.
Abigail Cooper (12/06/2025, 19:32):
Amidst this pandemic, the team at Asda Motherwell has been absolutely brilliant! They've been so courteous, polite, and incredibly helpful 😀 I've always been a fan of this store and shopped here often, but my recent visit has truly solidified my appreciation for the entire team 😀 ...
Kevin Gomez (10/06/2025, 11:26):
The shop is always in a right mess. There are too many managers having their shop floor meetings that you have to navigate around because they think they're too important to move for you.
David Howard (08/06/2025, 00:37):
The supermarket is well-kept and the prices are quite reasonable.
Harold Brown (07/06/2025, 11:04):
I recently visited the store with my disabled mate, and I found myself being overcharged. To make matters worse, we were kept waiting for more than 20 minutes to get a refund. My pal needs oxygen, and the whole experience was utterly disgraceful.
Ryan Jackson (05/06/2025, 18:20):
No door man, no social distancing between customers and staff, didn't feel safe at all, worst experience ever during the pandemic. I won't be returning to the store until it's all over.
Hannah Thomas (03/06/2025, 05:03):
I do declare, the customer service experience at this establishment left much to be desired. On Tuesday, the 25th of July, I found myself in quite the situation when I brought a matter to the attention of the duty manager, Brian. I had purchased a box of ASDA assorted chocolates, which were clearly marked on the shelf with a price of £3.40 in red, indicating a saving of 60p. However, upon reaching the till, I was charged £4 instead.

When I raised this discrepancy with the customer service desk, a staff member went to verify the price. Upon their return, a duty manager accompanied them, and we all went to check the point of sale display on the shelf. To my dismay, the price tag had been removed, leaving no indication of the actual price. Brian then informed me that in order to receive a refund, I would need to present my debit card.

This led to an additional inconvenience as I had to make the journey back home to retrieve my debit card before returning to the store for the refund. The attitude displayed by the duty manager, Brian, throughout this ordeal was simply appalling.
Kyle Hill (02/06/2025, 15:55):
The 2 staff members at the Motherwell customer service desk on Sunday, May 1st at 5:45 really exceeded expectations to guarantee customer satisfaction. Many thanks!
Joshua Torres (28/05/2025, 09:28):
I've been charged too much three times now because the prices on the shelf were wrong. I'm just going to stick with Tesco or Morrisons from now on.
