Exploring Boots: Your Ultimate Beauty Supply Store in Edinburgh
If you're in Edinburgh and on the lookout for a reliable beauty supply store, look no further than Boots located at Craigleith. This store offers a variety of products ranging from cosmetics to health supplies, but it’s important to be aware of the experiences shared by previous customers.
In-Store Shopping and Accessibility Features
Boots is designed for convenience, featuring a wheelchair-accessible entrance and ample parking space, including a wheelchair-accessible car park. When you step inside, you will find a clean, well-organized store, although some customers have expressed concerns regarding accessibility during peak hours.
Payment Options Available
The store supports multiple payment options, including credit cards, debit cards, and NFC mobile payments. This versatility ensures that you can make your purchases with ease. However, it is worth noting that some customers have faced issues with service at the checkout, which can sometimes lead to long wait times.
In-Store Pick-Up and Quick Visits
For those who prefer quick shopping trips, Boots offers an in-store pick-up option for online orders. While this can save time, customers have reported frustrations with inaccurate notifications, leading to wasted trips. A few individuals found themselves waiting longer than expected to collect their prescriptions, emphasizing the need for improved queue management.
Customer Service Experience
Unfortunately, feedback about customer service has been mixed. While some staff members have been noted for their helpfulness, others have been described as rude or dismissive. For instance, a recent review mentioned a particularly unpleasant encounter where a member of staff was short-tempered when addressing a customer’s inquiry.
Pharmacy Services and Wait Times
The pharmacy within Boots is often busy, and customers have reported long wait times, sometimes exceeding 30 minutes just to collect prescriptions. Several reviews highlight that despite the presence of multiple staff members, service efficiency remains a significant concern.
Accessibility Amenities
Boots provides various amenities that cater to its customers' needs, including a wheelchair-accessible toilet. However, there have been complaints about the hygiene and upkeep of these facilities, indicating a potential area for improvement.
Delivery Services and Future Improvements
While Boots offers delivery services, feedback suggests a need for more reliable communication regarding order status. Customers have expressed frustration over missing notifications about ready prescriptions or products.
Conclusion
In summary, Boots at Craigleith offers a vast selection of beauty and health products, complemented by convenient payment options and accessibility features. However, the store must address ongoing concerns regarding customer service and wait times to enhance the shopping experience. Whether you are planning a quick visit or stopping by for an extensive shopping trip, being mindful of these aspects can help mitigate any potential challenges.

Kudos for the abysmal service provided by the optical team 👏👏👏, with a complete lack of accountability or effort to find a solution. The management is equally dreadful, failing to follow up on requested calls.

Just stopped by the beauty supply store and was greeted with a warm welcome by the staff. They make sure to clean any products you touch, which shows they care about their customers and staff's safety. Overall, it was a fantastic experience!
Patrick Flores (21/07/2025, 16:52):
Fast and friendly service. However, if you're looking to purchase high-end products like Chanel, etc., I recommend visiting a different store.
Billy Cruz (18/07/2025, 22:05):
Not too bad, the only issue is that the chemist needs more qualified staff. I had to go back three times with my wife because they couldn't decide on which medication to give her.
Jordan Coleman (18/07/2025, 09:41):
I went to drop off some unopened medication that I no longer needed and was treated as if I had just taken it off the shelf myself. Not the way to treat customers, really. It was perfectly harmless medication, at that! I should have gone somewhere else since I had spent a lot of money on herbal remedies before dropping it off. Lesson learned.
Richard Reynolds (14/07/2025, 16:54):
Great store. Convenient location with ample parking. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
Christian Murphy (13/07/2025, 04:26):
Absolutely dreadful pharmacy services. Endless queues only to be informed that they must order the prescription or wait an additional 15 minutes to collect the ready ones. And don't even get me started on their lunchtime closures when the pharmacy is meant to be open! Not a single glance or apology for the 30-minute average wait in line. Without a doubt, the poorest customer service I've ever experienced!!!
Wayne Cox (10/07/2025, 08:00):
Horrid pharmacy. Waited for ages in a queue to drop off my prescription. The lass found the meds right quick, but said I had to return in 35 minutes. I popped off to another shop and came back 40 minutes later only to find my prescription still wasn't ready. Ended up waiting over an hour. The staff were terribly rude, no eye contact or apologies. Steer clear of this place at all costs!
Robert Myers (09/07/2025, 15:47):
I made the trek all the way from Fife after seeing on their website that this shop had a fabulous makeup counter, only to discover they actually just have the same small display as all their other locations. Quite disappointing, I must say.
Ralph Carter (08/07/2025, 15:25):
The staff at the pharmacy are so lovely and helpful, always willing to lend a hand.
Mia Russell (08/07/2025, 14:18):
In June 2022, I found myself at the front of the line at Boots Craigleith for 15 long minutes, eagerly waiting to pick up my prescription that they had notified me was ready. With four employees visibly working, not one of them acknowledged my presence or offered a simple "we'll be right with you." Despite standing at the forefront of the queue with several people forming a line behind me, my pleas for assistance went unnoticed. To my dismay, when another customer approached the till beside the prescription counter, a staff member promptly attended to them instead of addressing those in the queue. Despite the obvious option for the staff member to retrieve my prescription from behind the counter and hand it to me, they chose not to do so. It took raising my voice before finally receiving any service, prompting others in the queue to voice their discontent with the consistently poor service at Boots Craigleith.
Fast forward to August 2022, when my prescription was sent to Boots for processing, only to encounter a staggering delay of 6 days before it was ready for collection. This extended waiting period seemed absurd, especially considering that not too long ago prescriptions were prepared in just 20 minutes. Yet here I was, faced with a 6-day wait, a situation mirrored by my partner who had been waiting for a prescription to be prepared for 10 days.
In the same month, I stood in line for 10 minutes only to witness a single customer being served ahead of me. Realizing the mounting wait time, with prospects of at least a 30-minute ordeal, I regrettably had to abandon the queue.
July 2022 presented yet another daunting scenario, as the queue for prescriptions extended all the way out of the store's entrance, estimating an hour-long wait just to pick up a prescription. Returning on another day, I still encountered a 30-minute queue for prescription collection.
Even back in May 2022, when my prescription was supposedly ready for pickup, I endured a frustrating 25-minute wait in line.
This ongoing saga of poor service at Boots Craigleith has persisted for several months now. Disheartened by the lack of expected service standards, I am compelled to seek an alternative location for prescription pick-ups where service is more reliable.
Terry Watson (02/07/2025, 09:09):
These boots are absolutely fabulous for all your health, medication, and beauty product needs. The staff is top-notch as well!
Austin Williams (02/07/2025, 06:45):
The lady at the No7 counter at Craigleith on the 6th of August was absolutely fabulous! She was a real gem, providing some wonderful advice on makeup selection, especially considering I don't typically wear much makeup. Thanks to her help, I was able to achieve the perfect look for my 30th anniversary date night. A million thanks, you've gained yourself one happy customer! 😊
Mary Collins (29/06/2025, 04:51):
Decent sized shop, stocks pretty much everything you might need, although not quite as large as the one on Princes Street.
Emma Diaz (29/06/2025, 04:46):
The service at the pharmacy is so dreadfully slow, it's simply not acceptable. It's a recurring issue that keeps popping up in countless reviews. Boots, you really ought to look into this matter post haste.
Paul King (27/06/2025, 22:45):
Lovely little chemist, charming store
Exceptional customer care.
Steven Barnes (25/06/2025, 19:47):
I popped into the beauty supply store to redeem my Boots card for a new fragrance, but encountered an unhelpful cashier. She insisted that I present my physical Boots card, as she couldn't input the number from the advantage card barcode on my phone. It seems like this Boots staff member isn't equipped to handle digital cards, so keep that in mind when visiting! 🙄😏
Joshua Martinez (23/06/2025, 21:19):
I often pop into Boots to get my weight checked every week, but their scales have been out of order for the past 3 weeks. Last week, a staff member mentioned they were waiting for an engineer to fix them, yet when I spoke to a manager, he seemed clueless about the situation. I made it clear that this had been an ongoing issue for two weeks already. It's been another week now, and the scales are still not fixed.
The customer service was really lacking, and it felt like they weren't bothered about keeping me informed on when the scales would be repaired.
Ruth Hamilton (20/06/2025, 09:15):
I must say, I am getting quite frustrated with the pharmacy here. I often receive my prescriptions from the doctor's office days in advance, yet when I go to collect them, they are not ready. I understand they can be busy, but a little acknowledgment of my wait and some eye contact would go a long way. They may be qualified pharmacists, but they are also in a customer-facing role. They could take a page out of the book of their colleagues in the retail part of Boots.

Once again, I have experienced poor service at this pharmacy. I went to pick up my necessary medication only to be given the wrong items. I had two prescriptions waiting, but they only gave me one. Now I have to go back, wait in the never-ending queue AGAIN, and most likely have to fight to prove that another prescription is waiting for me, even though my doctor's office has confirmed it is there! Get it together Boots Craigleith!!!!
Joshua Murphy (17/06/2025, 22:14):
I'm feeling quite generous with the stars today, as they do offer a decent selection at a variety of price points. One would hope there are some hardworking and polite staff members present, wouldn't you agree?
However, like many others have mentioned, I too experienced long wait times at the checkout, with queues forming and staff appearing short-tempered and irritable.
Overall, it was not a pleasant experience.
