Asda Leith Superstore: A Comprehensive Review

Located in Edinburgh, the Asda Leith Superstore is a popular choice for locals and visitors alike. With its vast selection of products and convenient service options, it aims to meet all your shopping needs.

Accessibility and Parking

The store boasts a free parking lot which is a significant advantage, especially during peak hours. Additionally, there are provisions for wheelchair-accessible entrances and a wheelchair-accessible car park, making it easy for everyone to access the store.

Product Offerings

Asda Leith is known for its wide range of great produce. Customers can find everything from fresh fruits and vegetables to pantry staples such as metal cans and glass bottles. However, some shoppers have reported inconsistencies in the freshness of items, particularly in the fruit and vegetable aisles, with comments pointing to items that were previously marked past their expiration dates.

Service Options and Payments

This supermarket operates 24/7 with self-checkout machines that accept various payment methods including debit cards, credit cards, and NFC mobile payments. Unfortunately, there have been issues with customer service; some patrons have experienced rude staff and unhelpful interactions, especially in checkout areas. No-contact delivery is also offered, enhanced by a robust click and collect service for those who prefer shopping online.

Customer Experiences

Feedback about Asda Leith varies widely. Many customers appreciate the quick visit option and the spacious layout of the store. Others highlight the quality of the café, although it has been noted that it is temporarily closed. On the other side, some shoppers have expressed frustration due to the rude behavior of security staff and issues with stock availability, particularly in the frozen and dairy sections.

Recycling and Sustainability

Asda has also introduced initiatives around recycling and reducing plastic use. While some customers have appreciated these efforts, they simultaneously remarked on the excessive plastic packaging in certain product categories.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Asda Leith Superstore provides a comprehensive shopping experience with diverse product offerings, accessible facilities, and several payment options. However, improvements in staff training and inventory management are necessary to elevate customer satisfaction to match the supermarket's potential.
Whether you're popping in for a quick meal or planning a larger shop, Asda Leith strives to be your one-stop destination.

Once upon a time, this shop was quite the gem. However, nowadays it seems to have lost its charm and has become rather dear in prices with a lack of helpful staff. Today, I found myself spending a good 30 minutes searching for basic items that I had bought countless times before, such as fresh pasta and garlic bread. After aimlessly wandering around and trying to find a member of staff to assist me, I was eventually informed that these items had been relocated to the back of the store, in an entirely incongruous section. It was a complete waste of time, a squandering of precious moments, and truly exasperating. Alas, I shall not grace this establishment with my presence again!

Not very pleased with the stock management during the jolly season. We stumbled upon several products available for purchase that had already expired.
Alexander Sanchez (10/08/2025, 13:53):
I made an online booking and reserved a slot for my elderly family member who has an underlying medical condition. I received all the confirmations but the order never arrived. When I called the store, the manager claimed there was no such order. When I tried to contact customer service, the message said they were closed, not sure what that meant. I think Asda may have gone into administration or liquidation due to unforeseen circumstances. The CEO keeps appearing on TV, claiming how they are helping the elderly and vulnerable, but it's all nonsense. They need to acknowledge their failures. I will never shop at this store or use their delivery service again. Very disappointing and let down.
Philip Henderson (03/08/2025, 00:57):
At present, the store is facing some concerning issues regarding stock rotation in the frozen and dairy sections. During my visit earlier this week on August 12th, I noticed potato rostis/croquettes that were a week past their "Use By" date of August 4th, along with similar problems with chocolate/dairy yogurts. Utterly unacceptable. Similar feedback has been echoed by other customers, so it's imperative that management addresses this promptly!
Timothy Collins (01/08/2025, 03:34):
It has nearly everything you could require! Great deals and prices that can't be beat.
Diana Gutierrez (31/07/2025, 21:12):
This supermarket ain't fantastic when it comes to keeping items in stock, and the team handling click and collect orders could sure use some customer service training. The head honcho doesn't seem too keen on hearing what customers have to say.

*Update 1 year later*
I popped back into this store recently and boy, things have somehow gotten even worse. I witnessed the lass at the pizza counter wiping her nose with her bare hand while fixing up some grub, and hardly anyone in the store bothers with a mask. The shelves are a mess, with loads of products missing price tags or sitting in the wrong spots. It's a wonder this place is still in business.

I recently had a rather disheartening encounter with the security team at ASDA LEITH. They displayed not only rudeness but also made unfounded accusations of theft against individuals without valid justification. I politely requested to speak with the store manager, only to be informed by the security staff that he holds the ultimate authority on matters and decisions. Let's not make assumptions based on appearance. I have brought up this issue with customer service and have a query for the store manager: Is security the ultimate authority in all ASDA stores, even when it comes to interactions with the store manager or security personnel making arbitrary rules based on our appearance? The situation was compounded by evident instances of racial profiling and bias. Such conduct is wholly unacceptable and resulted in a highly uncomfortable and distressing store visit. Realistically, I understand that sharing this feedback may not spur immediate change, as support usually leans towards the staff rather than the customer. It seems like a form of venting, given that being from a different country limits our ability to take action. Essentially, we can voice our concerns through posts like this and move on. My one entreaty to the ASDA LEITH store manager is to provide training on customer treatment to the security team. I don't necessarily expect special treatment, but a basic level of humanity in our interactions would be appreciated.

Supermarket is a fantastic spot, especially if you've got a car as it's absolutely massive and stocks practically everything under the sun - from paint and tools to pizza! The staff always seem to be running around like busy bees and tend to push for self-service, but I personally prefer good old-fashioned interaction, so I usually opt for the traditional method. They are always incredibly kind and helpful, even though the store is so big that I often find myself needing to ask for assistance. But hey, they never complain out loud, although I can surely picture their thought bubbles!

My only gripe would be with the café. I went there with an elderly couple once and found the staff to be quite grumpy. The cooked food was overdone and unappetizing, especially during lunchtime! However, we did enjoy some pots of tea, real coffee, and delicious scones. Although it was a bit too warm due to the sunshine streaming in through the windows.

Despite that, it's a great place to pick up affordable beachwear, work clothes, and more. Two well-off friends of mine swear by it for their work attire and even recommend it for inexpensive Christmas party dresses. This way, you can save some money to treat yourself to a delightful meal in town or a night out at the theater.

All in all, Supermarket is a truly welcome addition to Leith!

I must say, Supermarket being on Deliveroo is all well and good, but it seems they're simply turning down orders left and right. Are they merely using this platform for promotion, or do they derive some kind of perverse pleasure from inconveniencing folks?
Logan Stewart (23/07/2025, 09:02):
Besides the veggie section being a tad messy with some old veggies on the brink of growing mold, last night I happened upon an episode with an Asda staff member and their security team. They were seen in a scuffle with two young ladies - reportedly kicking, choking, and roughing them up. Their shrieks echoed through the store. It's possible they were caught stealing, but drawing from my experience as a former store manager, I'd recommend prioritizing cleanliness and product freshness over resorting to physical force on women. When did it become acceptable to pursue thieves by using violence? Kudos on the stellar recruitment process and staff selection, Asda.
Rebecca Johnson (23/07/2025, 06:05):
Just stumbled upon an amazing deal on an Airfryer at the Supermarket. The price is really top-notch! And let me tell you, they have a wide selection of fresh produce and a decent variety of frozen goods as well. I was impressed by the choices available in every department.
Evelyn Martinez (22/07/2025, 02:39):
We've been using Asda's home delivery service from their Leith store, which is our usual go-to, since the first National lockdown back in March. They've been an absolute lifesaver for us.

Booking delivery slots has been a breeze, and while it can be a tad frustrating when some items are out of stock, our orders have generally been fulfilled. We appreciate being informed ahead of time about any unavailable items, and we have the option to decline replacements if they don't suit our needs.

The delivery drivers are all incredibly helpful and courteous, consistently adhering to covid guidelines even during their late evening shifts after a long day.

Kudos to Asda for a job well done.
Anna Kim (21/07/2025, 10:53):
This store is an absolute disgrace. The toilets are covered in feces and never seem to be cleaned properly. The staff just stand around gossiping instead of helping with issues at the self-service checkout. Compared to other stores, this one is seriously lacking. The George section is a complete mess with items scattered everywhere.
Martha Cooper (20/07/2025, 12:18):
The security personnel at the supermarket are quite disappointing, I must say. They lack proper manners when dealing with customers, often coming across as rude and unhelpful. Instead of providing assistance, they can be found using their mobile phones in the exit area or engaging in idle gossip with their colleagues. It's truly a shame to see such unprofessional behavior from individuals tasked with ensuring the safety and well-being of patrons.
Zachary Barnes (20/07/2025, 07:47):
I was about to do a decent-sized shopping trip, so I asked the staff if they had any sturdy bags, but once again, they didn't have any. Looks like I'll be heading to Tesco again.
Joseph Long (15/07/2025, 14:23):
Decent store, great parking area. The Greggs café is a bit pricey, but it's neat and cozy enough.
Riley Myers (15/07/2025, 13:16):
So there was this deal for 24 coffee sachets at £1.00 from a brand I'd never heard of, but when I took them up to the self-service checkout, they rang up as £1.75. When I politely asked if the price could be adjusted, the employee got all huffy and puffy. When she returned with my item, she didn't even acknowledge me. Whatever! I got my item for the price it had stated on the box, so there!
Ethan Johnson (08/07/2025, 00:57):
I've had no issues with my visits to Asda in Leith, Edinburgh. It's a superstore that sells a range of goods and I quite enjoy being able to scan my items with the Scan and Go app. Makes it a breeze for me rather than having to fiddle around with a handheld device. However, I do sense that this place lacks the same level of staffing as before, making it tricky to locate assistance when required.
Rose Martin (04/07/2025, 03:27):
Having to stand in line, in a lengthy queue for the large self-checkout machines while more than half of the smaller ones sit idle seems nonsensical and a pointless waste of time. There is ample space and it was nowhere near peak hours. And just so you know, all the items fit perfectly on the checkout tray, so it wasn't a matter of having too many products. I typically use a trolley as it makes it easier to transport bottles of coke while browsing for other items. This particular store also appears to be the only ASDA I've visited that enforces this policy consistently. (except during busy times, when it would be more understandable)
Bryan Martin (03/07/2025, 23:00):
Absolutely smashing that pot noodle, but blimey, the garlic bread is a right proper bother to tear apart, innit?
