There seems to be a lack of staff at this supermarket. The limited number of clerks not paying attention to the queues and instead chatting with customers is quite frustrating. This has always been an issue at this store, based on my numerous visits even when it was a co-op.

The entire experience was not very good, I must say. The parking spaces for the car were rather small, and since we drive a compact SUV, we encountered quite a bit of trouble trying to park. I even had to step out of the vehicle to assist my wife in maneuvering into the space. Additionally, the store itself was on the smaller side, making it challenging for us to locate the items we were looking for. Ultimately, we decided to head over to Tesco's in Middleburg instead.

There is only one fella in charge of managing both the self-service and the cigarette counter. So if you happen to encounter any hiccups in either section, you'll have to hold your horses until they wrap up with the other area before lending you a hand. Not exactly ideal, especially during the morning rush when time is of the essence.

Absolutely dreadful experience at this particular Asda... I visited on Friday the 14th at 3:30 pm and encountered a long queue at the self-checkouts. To my disbelief, a lady with a completely full shopping trolley was attempting to use the self-service machines. Despite there being two available tills, they couldn't even bother to open one up for her. The lack of assistance was appalling, and when I inquired about opening a till, I was met with a dismissive shrug. Terrible customer service indeed.

This particular Asda in Scotland could be deemed as the least appealing of the bunch. The demeanor of the checkout staff might just deter you from making a return visit. Don't bank on receiving assistance at the self-checkouts either, as they're often engrossed in conversations with their friends at the tobacco desk.

It was Christmas Eve and my 5-year-old daughter and I were leaving the store when John from the Tranent store, who was dressed as Santa during his break - not in full outfit, but clearly having made a great effort - approached us. He handed my daughter a £10 gift voucher with a thank you from the store for being their customers and wishing us a Merry Christmas. I have never witnessed such a gesture before, and I was truly impressed by the effort put in not only by John, but all the staff working on Christmas Eve. Everyone was dressed up and making a great effort. Well done, folks, and thanks once again!

Security guards were awfully impolite. They confiscated 3 masks from my family for store entry because of the Covid-19 regulations. One of them held my hand and instructed me to return two masks, as only one was allowed per person. I hesitated, fearing contamination if I returned them, but despite my explanation, he insisted. As a result, we decided to take our business elsewhere that day.

There isn't much to praise about this establishment. The employees are unfriendly, the self-checkout machines are ineffective, and the store is a bit small and gloomy. Not exactly a pleasant shopping experience. Aldi down the street is far superior in terms of layout, service, prices, and merchandise. The only redeeming factor for ASDA is its decent cafe on-site. This raises it to a two-star rating.

Useful when you run out... but the staff are absolutely dreadful. I'll just add that the staff are quite impolite and essentially ignore you until they're done chatting before they bother to serve you... very unprofessional.

I popped into Asda this evening with my partner for our weekly shop. I've recently undergone surgery, so I was navigating the aisles with the help of crutches. There weren't enough staff members present during my visit. The existing employees included two young lads engaging in a playful scuffle with boxes in the aisle, and a somewhat grumpy and unenthusiastic cashier at the checkout. She appeared displeased when I opted for her assistance instead of using the self-service option, casting glances in that direction before audibly sighing and proceeding with my purchase. As a result, I've decided not to return and will instead venture a few hundred yards down the road to ALDI, where the staff are more than eager to help.

There are far too many unnecessary items stocked in this local supermarket. The store's profile is off-target and should be more aligned with a high-end food store like M&S or a convenience store like Sainsbury's Local. We don't need to see clothing or such a large selection of car parts and alcoholic beverages.

Replenishment of essential items such as bread and milk seems to be quite slow, leading to frequent shortages. The store always seems understaffed, and there are irregularities in the opening hours of services like the pizza counter.

It's a tad on the smaller side for an Asda, but it did have everything I was after. There weren't many checkouts open, so it was a bit of a hassle on a Friday night. The car park is petite, but at least it's free, which is a bonus.

I was eagerly anticipating the opening of the supermarket as our local coop is quite lacking. When we finally tried it a few times after it opened, we found that the range of products was rather limited compared to the larger Asda. They do have two staffed checkouts, but usually only one is open, and often it's just the self-serve option available. This can be inconvenient for older individuals or those with mobility issues, especially if you have a substantial shopping list.

The parking situation is also less than ideal.

In the end, we ended up going to the new Aldi down the road, which boasts wider aisles, a better selection of products, improved parking facilities, and lower prices!

Dreadful. The store is dreadfully understaffed and most of the personnel who do work there make you feel like you're a bother. The self-service checkouts are dreadful and most customers would much prefer traditional checkouts.

It can be quite a challenge to do a big shop at this particular supermarket since there is a noticeable lack of staff manning the checkouts, and even less frequently available at the self-service stations for assistance. And don't even get me started on how many times I've ended up paying for my groceries only to be informed that they've run out of carrier bags in the store.
