Morrisons Supermarket in Edinburgh: A Comprehensive Overview

Morrisons is a well-known supermarket chain, and its Edinburgh location offers a variety of amenities that cater to the local community. Here’s a detailed look at what you can expect when you visit this supermarket.

Inclusivity and Safety

Morrisons strives to be an LGBTQ+ friendly environment, promoting a transgender safe space for all customers. However, some visitors have reported negative experiences, emphasizing the need for better staff training on inclusivity and customer service. It's essential for everyone to feel welcomed while shopping.

Amenities and Accessibility

The supermarket features several amenities for its patrons. These include a wheelchair-accessible entrance, a wheelchair-accessible toilet, and ample parking, including a free parking lot that's convenient for quick visits. Accessibility is prioritized, ensuring that all customers can shop comfortably.

Shopping Experience

Morrisons offers a wide range of food products, from fresh produce to household essentials. The store is known for its great produce, making it a reliable choice for weekly shopping. Many customers appreciate the in-store pick-up options and NFC mobile payments, which make transactions more straightforward and faster. Despite some complaints about stock shortages and cleanliness, many find that the crowd size is manageable, and the layout allows for an efficient shopping experience. The ability to use debit cards and credit cards at checkouts also adds to the convenience.

Clothing Section

While Morrisons does carry a small clothing section, reviews indicate that the selection is primarily targeted towards women and small boys, with limited options available for men'swear. Customers seeking more extensive clothing choices may need to consider other retailers nearby.

Café and Dining Options

The in-store café has received mixed feedback. While some enjoy the offerings, others have voiced concerns about service quality and food standards. Reports of unappetizing meals and poor hygiene have raised eyebrows among customers looking for a quick meal during their shopping trip.

Customer Service Feedback

Customer experiences at Morrisons can vary significantly. While some staff members are praised for their helpfulness, others have been described as rude or inattentive. This inconsistency highlights the need for improved training and management to enhance the overall shopping experience.

Recycling and Environmental Awareness

Morrisons has taken steps towards environmental responsibility with their recycling initiatives. However, the usage of plastic bags still raises concerns among environmentally conscious shoppers. Encouraging the use of reusable bags can contribute to reducing waste.

Final Thoughts

In conclusion, Morrisons in Edinburgh provides a solid shopping option for locals with its diverse product offerings and accessibility features. Though there are areas needing improvement—particularly regarding customer service and café quality—the supermarket remains a reliable choice for many. Regular shoppers are advised to keep an open mind and share their feedback to foster positive changes within the store.

This top supermarket surely trumps the competition when it comes to value for money.
Lucy Brooks (18/07/2025, 13:51):
I was quite impressed with the cafe's vegan options, to be honest. However, I had to buy some vegan milk from the supermarket to use in my tea. Nonetheless, it was a lovely breakfast plate. 😋 ...

Compared to the other Morrison's in town, this particular one seems to be lacking in both variety and cleanliness. I tend to stick to sealed, branded foods as I don't trust much else in there. I ran out of bread and decided to try their tiger baguette. To my dismay, when I unwrapped it, it was dripping with grease and left a foul fishy smell on my hands. I had no choice but to throw it away. It is always shocking to me how poor the quality of their food can be.
Teresa James (15/07/2025, 23:21):
The fresh aisle is absolutely brilliant, I must say! So many varieties of fresh cheeses and delectable baked goods to choose from. A truly delightful experience for any food enthusiast.
Kimberly Martin (12/07/2025, 14:17):
I always make a quick stop at this great shop on my way to Thursday meetings. I never fail to find a good deal as long as the staff is on top of their game. God help us all.

Rating this establishment with one star is already a stretch. The café is consistently understaffed, with employees who are clearly unwell still being expected to come in for their shifts. Quite abhorrent, if you ask me. Where is the concern for health and safety in all of this?? They are potentially contaminating the food, yet all they seem to prioritize is keeping the doors open. My criticism lies not with the café workers themselves, but rather with the management, who appear to have no regard for the well-being of their staff. Truly unacceptable!!! 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
Rebecca Lopez (09/07/2025, 09:42):
Big supermarket, decent products at reasonable prices. There's a great variety and frequent promotions. They also have a café, although I prefer other cafes due to the quality. Nevertheless, it's an affordable and efficient option. Highly recommended for grocery shopping and grabbing a quick bite at the café.
Leonard Price (07/07/2025, 07:54):
Great queuing system, clean stations, but some people still come in without masks or sanitizer, letting their kids touch everything. The waiting area at customer service was a bit confusing for older folks, thought it was for the cafe. Had to help a couple find their way.
Teresa Stewart (03/07/2025, 21:48):
Decided to give the cafe a go for a hearty breakfast before our shopping spree in your store. Sadly, the food on our plates was lukewarm and overly oily. We opted for the custom breakfast deal - 8 items for £7, which included 2 sausages, 2 bacon strips, beans, mushrooms, and 2 slices of toast. I have a severe egg allergy, so why was my plate drowning in grease? Initially wanted to keep an open mind despite coming across negative reviews, but now I can only nod in agreement with them.
Andrew Jones (30/06/2025, 01:43):
I'm absolutely knackered with the lack of checkouts open past 9 am. It's all well and good if you're just picking up a few odds and ends, but it's a proper hassle if you're trying to do a proper shop.
Albert Gonzalez (29/06/2025, 15:22):
Good ol' Morrisons supermarket, loads of space for parkin'.
Carol Wright (23/06/2025, 09:08):
Skye was a real gem! I couldn't locate a specific item on my shopping list, so I approached her for help. She guided me to it, right under my nose (I really need to get my eyes checked 🤦🏻‍♀️)...
Billy Gutierrez (22/06/2025, 01:46):
I always pop into this place since I moved into the neighborhood. Regrettably, I've been bothered by the security staff. Every visit, they trail behind me in a rather impolite manner. I perceive it as racially prejudiced, considering I shop with my significant other and we're not native to Scotland. Despite residing here for a decade, this has been the most dreadful encounter I've faced.
Michelle Nelson (21/06/2025, 18:13):
Popped into the Café for a spot of brunch. Noticed that poor Eileen was flying solo, but she handled it superbly. Our grub arrived quick as a flash and was absolutely scrumptious. Would definitely suggest this spot to anyone after a hearty meal that won't break the bank. Cheers!
Dorothy Simmons (20/06/2025, 15:55):
I went to do my shopping today, but alas! They've only gone and decided to resurface the bloomin' car park. Had to dodge lorries and JCBs left, right, and center. Decided to take my custom elsewhere for now. Cheers!
Evelyn Robinson (19/06/2025, 02:11):
I absolutely adore their pastries and cakes. Since relocating, we find ourselves frequenting this establishment quite often now....lovely 🍩🥐🍰😊 ...
Zoey Rodriguez (18/06/2025, 17:55):
Every time they switch out the advertising signs by the railings along Gilmerton Road, they just leave all those big cable ties they cut off from the old signs strewn on the pavement. It's a right mess, if you ask me!
Kelly Jones (18/06/2025, 09:49):
The store is quite decent, with a wide variety of options and amiable staff. Although, some of them struggle a bit with guessing ages accurately, as I was denied the purchase of a gin bottle due to lack of ID. I'm actually 37. It's all good though, lesson learned - I now make sure to carry my ID with me at all times, lol.
Julia Hernandez (15/06/2025, 15:32):
Greetings, fellow shoppers! It appears that there is a spot of bother with the parking situation at the present moment. It seems that they are in the midst of resurfacing the area, hence the limited availability. One would have thought that there would be signage indicating that customers are free to utilize any available space. Alas, there were several vans occupied by just one individual idling about, likely affiliated with the ongoing works.

I managed to park my vehicle properly in a designated space, however, I found myself unable to open the rear door due to another car having parked mere millimeters from the back of my own vehicle. Should I have inched forward to unload my shopping, I would have obstructed the already narrow single lane. A bit disheartened, I must say, at the lack of control on Morrisons' part in managing this situation more effectively.
Teresa Peterson (13/06/2025, 21:17):
Just popped over to the store real quick, lovely fresh produce and great prices.
